Job summary

Florida Crystals Corporation, a fully integrated cane sugar company, seeks a Capex Buyer under the Sr. Manager, Capex & Services to independently source materials and services, produce metrics, and generate SAP reports while maintaining strong internal and external relationships.

You will handle high‑volume requisitions, negotiate contracts, analyze supplier performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives across assigned categories, traveling up to 20% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree plus 2–5 years of purchasing experience.
• ERP systems experience (Buying, Researching, Reporting).
• At least 2 years of ERP usage experience.

Responsibilities

• Process high volume requisitions from multiple sites under assigned categories.
• Prepare and coordinate agreements for commodities and/or services.
• Utilize ERP to run complex reports and perform analytics.
• Release orders in a timely fashion following company guidelines.
• Negotiate contracts, price, and supplier agreements.
• Evaluate, qualify, and select suppliers based on quality, service, cost and capability.
• Ensure all agreements and purchases comply with department policies.
• Stay updated on marketplace trends affecting assigned categories.
• Complete special projects as assigned.

OVERVIEW

Under general guidance of the Sr. Manager, Capex & Services, the Capex Buyer supports assigned categories by independently sourcing materials and/or services through day-to- day work activities or through assigned special projects. The Buyer must have a solid understanding and demonstrated ability to complete analysis of assigned categories by producing relevant metrics and generating SAP reports as well as the ability to make sound business decisions. The Buyer will work in a collaborative team environment and is responsible for maintaining positive business relationships with both internal and external customers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university plus 2-5 years of applicable Purchasing experience
• Degree major in Supply Chain, Business, or related field is preferred but not required
• At least 2 years of experience utilizing an ERP system (Buying, Researching, Reporting, etc.)

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for processing a high volume of requisitions from multiple sites under assigned categories
• Prepares and coordinates agreements for assigned commodities and/or services
• Utilizes the company ERP system to run complex reports and perform analytics
• Releases orders in a timely fashion while closely adhering to established company guidelines
• Independently negotiates contracts, price, and supplier agreements
• Evaluates, qualifies, and selects suppliers based on quality, service, cost and capability
• Ensures all agreements, purchases, and initiatives comply with established department policies and procedures
• Stays abreast of current marketplace trends in price, suppliers, and/or other conditions affecting business in assigned categories
• Completes special projects as assigned
• Maintains confidentiality of proprietary business information at all times
• Performs other duties as assigned
