Job summary

Performance Foodservice in Hickory, NC is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to help confirm purchase orders, invoice customers and process drop ships.

You will collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure accurate orders, timely communication, and smooth operation of the supply chain.

The role requires a High School Diploma and 6–12 months procurement/warehouse experience; training and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6-12 months procurement, warehouse and/or administrative experience preferred.
• Experience in purchasing or related area is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Purchasing by confirming all purchase orders, invoicing customers and processing drop ships.
• Prepare orders to be dropped ship directly to customers.
• File all special orders.
• Assist in pricing and sourcing products based on product merchandising knowledge.
• Communicate with customers, vendors and company personnel in a friendly, timely and quality manner; ensuring that questions are answered accurately and timely.
• Interface with management, warehouse personnel, and other departments in-house.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for assisting personnel within Purchasing confirming all purchase orders, invoicing customers and processing drop ships. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and wide range of company personnel in a positive and proactive manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

• Responsible for assisting personnel within Purchasing confirming all purchase orders, invoicing customers and processing drop ships.


• Prepare orders to be dropped ship directly to customers.


• File all special orders.


• Assist in pricing and sourcing products based on product merchandising knowledge.


• Communicate and interact with customers, vendors and company personnel in a friendly, timely and quality manner; ensuring that customers’ and vendors’ questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.


• Interface with management, warehouse personnel, and the Accounting, Multi-Unit Accounts, Customer Service, Transportation, and Information Services, in-house freight traffic management personnel, Vice President, Purchasing, and other Purchasing personnel.


• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

6 - 12 Months Procurement, warehouse and / or administrative

experience in related area.
