Responsibilities
- Coordinates activities related to the procurement of materials, products and services for Silfex, in support of daily operations.
- Assures that materials, products and/or services are ordered and delivered on schedule in a cost‑effective manner while meeting all quality and corporate standards.
- Manages low‑dollar spend commodities (e.g., uniforms, MRO VMI programs, canteen vending, etc.).
- Creates and publishes exception reports from ERP systems showing gaps in new part set‑up, supplier certifications, and contract management.
- Supports master data entry for supplier and consumable set‑up.
- Works with Accounts Payable on resolving receiving/invoicing issues.
- Supports various ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Manages supplier banking change processes on behalf of Supply Chain.
- Maintains timely control and accuracy of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records through the ERP system.
- Analyzes requirements of materials, products or services, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date needed.
- Solicits and evaluates proposals for the requested material, product or service.
- Advises company personnel or management on the appropriate supplier to be used.
- Negotiates the lowest possible cost balanced against the required quality and production needs.
- Applies lean principles and participates in lean concepts, especially when ordering material for the shop.
- Tracks supplier performance in quality and delivery.
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and properly applies Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate.
- Carrying out special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Follows all company safety policies and reports unsafe conditions to Manufacturing Manager, EHS Manager, and/or Director of Manufacturing.
- Assists in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
- Performs tasks/duties related to special projects or assignments.
- Performs other duties as assigned by department management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; or a High School Diploma/GED with 2+ years related experience.
- Proficiency in computer use including Internet and software programs such as Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and measurements.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to multi‑task effectively in a high paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform successfully under minimum supervision.
- Ability to establish credibility with management, staff and employees.

Physical Demands

Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions. Noise level is moderate.
