Job summary

SOMACIS, Inc. is a Global Printed Circuit Board manufacturer with 50+ years of experience. We are seeking a Buyer to purchase goods, negotiate with suppliers, and manage inventory within budget. This role requires research, supplier evaluation, and on-time delivery, with ISO 9100/9001 compliance.

• Basic knowledge of ISO procedures and requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage inventories to ensure continuous production while maximizing turns.
• Develop thorough working knowledge of assigned commodities and supplier base.
• Review purchase requisitions for accuracy, delivery requirements and quantity.
• Check requisitions, contact vendors and examine quotes.
• Investigate and develop new sources of supply.
• Make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements.
• Maintain follow-up of orders to ensure on-time delivery.
• Expedite and follow up on material activities.
• Maintain contacts with vendors as required on all related matters.
• Prioritize orders to place long lead times promptly.
• Ensure compliance to ISO 9100 & ISO 9001.
• Authorize non-routine items before purchase.
• Input all receiving documents in computer and transfer to AP timely.

Position Description:

Buyers areresponsible for purchasing goods for a company to use or sell in their own business. This position requires extensive research and the ability to negotiate contracts with suppliers, manage an inventory, evaluate quality goods, and stick within a budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage inventories to ensure continuous production while maximizing turns.
• Develop thorough working knowledge of assigned commodities and associated supplier base.
• Review purchase requisitions for accuracy, delivery requirements and quantity
• Check requisitions, contact vendors and examine quotes
• Investigate and develops new sources of supply
• Make purchases at prices consistent with quality and quantity requirements
• Maintain follow-up of orders placed to insure on-time delivery
• Expedite and follow up on material activities
• Maintain contacts with Vendors as required on all related matters
• Prioritize orders to make sure long lead times are quickly placed
• Compliance to ISO 9100 & ISO 9001
• Responsible to ensure that all non-routine items have proper authorization before they are purchased
• Input all receiving documents in computer. Assign receiving number to receiving documents. Transfer all receiving documents to Accounts Payable in a timely manner

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Associates Degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum two years prior purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment with specific responsibilities in one or more of the following commodity groups: Maintenance and repair, office supplies and services, electrical, electronic or shipping supplies
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline environment
• Ability to see a job/task through to its conclusion
• Ability to handle multiple tasks proficiently
• Basic Knowledge of ISO procedures and requirements
• SAP Experience is a plus
