Job summary

Lonza in Portsmouth, NH is seeking a Buyer to manage critical direct procurement operations for life‑saving filters and production materials. This site‑based role supports real‑time collaboration to ensure high‑quality medicines.

You will drive supplier management and material availability with cross‑functional teams. Ideal candidates bring direct procurement experience in a cGMP/life sciences setting, working knowledge of SAP MRP, and strong vendor relationship skills to maintain supply

Responsibilities

• Manage ~500 SKUs across 15–20 suppliers with ~ $15M spend annually.
• Coordinate with Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure material availability.
• Process vendor complaints, VCNs, and supplier quality matters.
• Use SAP/MRP to oversee stock levels, PO placement and data in SCM systems.
• Handle raw material returns, recalls, and supply continuity risk mitigation.
• Contribute to vendor performance reviews and procurement quality compliance.

Manage critical direct procurement operations to supply life‑saving single‑use filters and production materials for our biopharmaceutical manufacturing site in Portsmouth, NH.

This is a fully site‑based role. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

What you will do:

• Drive direct procurement operations managing ~500 SKUs across 15–20 suppliers with an annual spend of approximately $15M.

• Partner closely with internal Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure seamless material availability for biopharmaceutical production.

• Process and resolve Vendor Complaints, Vendor Change Notifications (VCNs), and manage supplier quality matters.

• Utilize SAP/MRP systems to oversee stock levels, place purchase orders, and monitor material supply chain info.

• Handle raw material returns, recalls, and supply continuity risk mitigation.

• Contribute to vendor performance reviews and maintain high standards of procurement quality systems compliance.

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in Direct Procurement, ideally within a cGMP / GxP biopharmaceutical or life sciences environment.

• Strong familiarity with Procurement Quality Systems and managing vendor quality issues (VCNs, complaints).

• Practical experience with SAP MRP or similar enterprise MRP systems.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑SKU portfolios and maintain vendor relationships.

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business, supply chain, or scientific field, or equivalent experience.
