Job summary

PSI seeks a visionary Business Unit General Manager to lead its Certifications & Licensure business from its Princeton, NJ operations. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this executive will own strategy, growth, operations, and profitability for the business unit across professional credentialing and high-stakes testing.

PSI is seeking a visionary and commercially driven Business Unit General Manager to lead our Certifications & Licensure business. Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer of PSI, a $400M global enterprise, this executive will have full accountability for the strategy, growth, operations, and profitability of the business unit.

Key Responsibilities
P&L Leadership & Business Performance
  • Own full business unit P&L, including revenue, profitability, operating margin, forecasting, investment planning, and financial performance.
  • Develop and execute strategies that deliver sustainable double‑digit year‑over‑year growth.
  • Drive disciplined resource allocation and investment decisions to maximize return on investment.
  • Establish performance metrics, operating rhythms, and accountability mechanisms to achieve financial targets.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve margins, and expand recurring revenue streams.
Business Growth & Market Expansion
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth strategy for PSI’s Certifications & Licensure business.
  • Expand PSI’s market presence within professional certification, occupational licensing, association credentialing, healthcare, IT, financial services, public sector, and regulated industries.
  • Identify emerging market opportunities, customer needs, industry trends, and competitive threats.
  • Drive new client acquisition while strengthening relationships with existing certification and licensure organizations.
  • Lead strategic initiatives including partnerships, product expansion, and market development efforts.
Industry Leadership
  • Serve as a recognized leader within the certification and credentialing industry.
  • Build strong relationships with certification boards, licensing agencies, professional associations, and regulatory organizations.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of credentialing industry trends, accreditation requirements, psychometric standards, examination development, testing delivery models, and digital credentialing innovations.
  • Represent PSI at industry conferences, client forums, and executive leadership events.
Commercial & Customer Excellence
  • Partner closely with Sales and Customer Success teams to grow strategic accounts and improve client retention.
  • Ensure exceptional customer experiences across the full certification lifecycle.
  • Drive customer‑centric innovation and service excellence.
  • Lead executive‑level client engagements and strategic business reviews.
Cross‑Functional Leadership
  • Align Product, Technology, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Psychometrics, and Client Success teams around shared business objectives.
  • Ensure executional excellence across all aspects of business delivery.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration across PSI’s broader commercial organization.
Talent & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high‑performing team of approximately 30 professionals.
  • Build a culture of accountability, customer focus, growth, and operational excellence.
  • Develop future leaders through coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Attract and retain top industry talent.

Certifications & Licensure
Required Experience
  • 15+ years of progressive executive leadership experience.
  • Significant experience leading a business, division, or business unit with full P&L accountability.
  • Demonstrated success achieving aggressive revenue growth and profitability targets.
  • Proven track record of driving double‑digit growth within a certification, licensure, credentialing, testing, assessment, education, or highly regulated professional services environment.
  • Experience building and scaling customer‑focused businesses.
  • Strong commercial leadership experience across sales, product strategy, customer success, and operations.
