Responsibilities

As a Business Technologist, you will assist management (i.e., executives, managers, business analysts, and decision makers throughout the Agency) in a wide range of operational (day-to-day) and strategic business issues and actions to support decision-making by providing data, analytical tools and evaluation techniques/methods. Utilize state-of-the-art computer technologies to capture and model significant business processes and evaluate business practices. This work will be accomplished in coordination with teams of managers, data stewards, process partners, and customers to facilitate the delivery of the business intelligence necessary to guide the Agency toward strategic success. Use a variety of computer software tools including, but not limited to: Data Base Management Systems (DBMS), On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP), Data Mining, Report Generation, Data Transformation, and modeling. Well versed in utilizing performance measurement techniques, economic analysis, data warehousing, managerial cost accounting, business modeling and financial reporting.

  • - Employing some combination (2 or more) of analysis, computer science, mathematics, and software engineering skills to devise strategies for extracting meaning and value from large datasets.
  • - Through analytic modeling, scripting, and/or programming, develop and implement qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing large datasets in various states of organization, cleanliness and structure.
  • - Reviewing the nature and quality of cost data sources and evaluate their relevance to analyses; recommending action for improvement and use of sources.
  • - Translating practical mission needs and analytic questions related to large datasets into technical requirements and, conversely, assist others with drawing appropriate conclusions from the analysis of such data.
  • - Effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences through varied visualization and presentation methods.
  • - Design analytic tables, reports and dashboards using business intelligence tools and platforms.
Job Summary

In support of the Agency as a whole, the Business Analysis group leverages analytic tools to facilitate data collection management, data analysis, advanced analytic studies tool development, metrics, and forecasting. This organization provides cost/financial data and analyses to enable senior leader resource decision making. The group leverages data analytics and business intelligence reporting as well as maintaining data integrity.

Qualifications

The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Degree must be in a Business Field (for example, Program Management, Business Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, and Economics) or a Technical Field (for example, Engineering, Systems Management, Computer Science, and Information Technology). FULL PERFORMANCE Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 7 years of relevant experience, an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience. Relevant experience must include one or more of the following: business, finance, computer programming, or management information systems. SENIOR Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 10 years of relevant experience, an Associate's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience must include one or more of the following: business, finance, computer programming, or management information systems. Additionally, must have formal or informal leadership experience.

Pay: Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position.

Salary Range: $102,415 - $187,093 (Full Performance, Senior)

Salary range varies by location, work level, and relevant experience to the position.

Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).

DCIPS Trial Period: If selected for this position, you will be required to serve a two-year DCIPS trial period, unless you are a veterans' preference-eligible employee, in which case you are required to serve a one-year trial period. This trial period runs concurrently with your commitment to the position, if applicable. Before finalizing your appointment at the conclusion of your trial period, NSA will determine whether your continued employment advances the public interest. This decision will be based on factors such as your performance and conduct; the Agency's needs and interests; whether your continued employment would advance the Agency's organisational goals; and whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service. Upon completion of your trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
