About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

As a Business Systems Analyst on Anthropic's BizTech team, you'll play a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions. You'll translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and architectural decisions, ensuring engineering teams build solutions that scale with our rapid growth. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the organization to understand their requirements, configure systems, and ensure our business technology ecosystem operates efficiently and effectively. This role combines analytical thinking with technical expertise to design, implement, and maintain systems that drive operational excellence.

You'll be responsible for analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and translating them into technical solutions. As we continue to scale rapidly, you'll help ensure our systems and processes evolve to meet the growing demands of our organization while maintaining the high standards of efficiency and reliability that Anthropic requires.

Responsibilities
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of technical projects from conception through launch
  • Configure and customize business systems to meet specific organizational needs, including user permissions, workflows, and integrations
  • Manage technical vendor evaluation for business applications, including contract negotiations, service level agreements, and ongoing vendor performance assessment
  • Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including process flows, user guides, configuration specifications, and technical documentation
  • Lead knowledge management initiatives to ensure institutional knowledge is captured, organized, and accessible to all team members
  • Own technical risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Analyze current business processes and identify opportunities for automation and optimization
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business users, translating complex technical concepts into user-friendly language
  • Conduct system testing, validation, and user acceptance testing for new implementations and updates
  • Provide ongoing support and training to end-users across the organization
  • Monitor system performance and usage metrics to identify areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure business systems integrate seamlessly with other platforms
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in business systems management
You may be a good fit if you:
  • Have 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or similar role in a technology-focused environment
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex business processes
  • Have experience with systems configuration and customization across various business applications
  • Are skilled at requirements gathering and translating business needs into technical specifications
  • Excel at documentation creation and maintenance, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Have experience managing vendor relationships and evaluating technology solutions
  • Are an effective communicator who can bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and requirements
  • Have experience with API integrations and iPaaS solutions
  • Have a passion for process improvement and automation
  • Are proactive and self-directed with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Care about the societal impacts of your work and are excited about contributing to AI safety
Strong candidates may also:
  • Have experience with enterprise level business systems
  • Have knowledge of database management and SQL
  • Have experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.)
  • Have certifications in relevant business systems or project management
  • Have experience with business intelligence and reporting tools
  • Have worked in high-growth startup environments

Logistics

Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience

Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship:We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
