Job summary

Colas Inc. in Denver, CO, seeks an Architect to design, implement, and maintain scalable IT solutions that align with business goals and ensure high availability and cost-efficiency.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, guide modernization efforts, review security, performance, and integration, and mentor technical groups while acting as a Level 3 escalation point for complex issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the construction materials industry, including quarries, asphalt plants, readymix plants, and/or liquid terminals.

Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end IT solutions meeting security, compliance and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Evaluate and select hardware, software, and integration methods.
  • Develop and maintain architectural blueprints, standards, and documentation.
  • Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance across teams.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity planning; suggest improvements.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies, including AI tools.
  • Provide mentorship to technical teams and support cross-functional collaboration.
  • Serve as Level 3 escalation for complex system issues across infrastructure, application, and integration layers.
  • Manage vendor relationships and assess third-party solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation*: $133,560.00 - $163,240.00 USD

*Estimated target starting compensation; final compensation will be determined based on an assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.

Benefits: Full-time salaried exempt employees are eligible for Colas Group benefits, as outlined in the plan documents. Available benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, term life insurance, supplemental life insurance, 401(K) with company match, short- and long-term disability. Other benefits include paid holidays, paid sick leave, accrued vacation time off, and paid parental leave.

Other Compensation: This position may be considered for annual bonus compensation.

Job Summary

The Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and resilient IT solutions that support the organization's strategic objectives. This role plays a critical part in aligning technology architecture with business needs, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost-efficiency across systems. The Architect collaborates with cross-functional teams to guide modernization, adoption, and integration efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Design and oversee the implementation of end-to-end solutions that meet security, compliance and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate hardware, software, and integration methods.
  • Develop and maintain architectural blueprints, standards, and documentation.
  • Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance across teams.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and recommend improvements/changes.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies, namely AI tools and platforms.
  • Provide mentorship to technical teams and support cross-functional collaboration.
  • Serve as a Level 3 escalation point for complex system issues, providing expert troubleshooting and resolution support across infrastructure, application, and integration layers.
  • Manage vendor relationships and evaluate third-party solutions.
Experience/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the construction materials industry, including quarries, asphalt plants, readymix plants, and/or liquid terminals
  • Travel 10%
Professional Skills
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management.
  • Experience working within Agile development methodologies, including the use of JIRA.
  • Preferred: Bilingual proficiency in English and French .
  • Preferred: Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (E1).
  • Preferred: Experience with industryspecific manufacturing solutions such as JWS, COMMANDseries, MOBILEsales, COMMANDqc, Stonemont QC, FleetWatcher, TrackIT, and various asphalt and concrete Drum and Batch Plant Control Systems.
