Job summary

Key People in Mineola, NY is seeking a hands-on Business Segment Controller to serve as the site finance lead. You will partner with the business unit manager, directing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and operational analyses with a strong focus on costing, inventory, and working capital.

You will oversee month-end processes, capital expenditure analyses, and audits, ensuring adherence to US GAAP and SOX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or Master’s degree preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive manufacturing accounting and finance experience.
• 3-5 years of leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, US GAAP, ASC 606, and SOX 404.
• Product cost accounting, inventory management, and working capital optimization.
• Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Oracle, HFM, and Power BI preferred.
• Public company and M&A experience preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Budgets and forecasts; analyze revenue, profitability, expenses, and working capital.
• Monitor KPIs, improve productivity, reduce costs, and support product development.
• Oversee product costing, inventory valuation, physical counts, and obsolete inventory reserves.
• Drive working capital improvements across accounts receivable, inventory, and accounts payable.
• Evaluate capital expenditures and prepare financial analyses, including NPV calculations.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, internal controls, and company policies.
• Support internal and external audits and divisional reporting requirements.

Reporting to the Division Vice President of Business Unit Finance, the Business Segment Controller serves as the site finance lead and strategic business partner to the business unit manager. This hands-on leadership role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, operational analysis, and compliance, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing cost accounting, inventory management, and working capital optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
