Job description

We are seeking an experienced Business Reporting Lead to join our Business Management Office (\"BMO\") within the Office of the CIO at our client in the financial services industry. The BMO currently supports certain verticals within Technology and is expanding to eventually support all verticals, providing the CIO with a comprehensive view of Technology's business operations. As the BMO scales, this role will be critical in reinforcing the existing team through both leadership and hands-on delivery of reporting initiatives while identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation, and scalability. This is a working manager position from day one-you will directly contribute to report definition and output while simultaneously leading, coaching, and developing your team. You will work closely with Technology teams and key stakeholder groups including Finance and Accounts Payable to deliver routine operational reporting and drive continuous improvement in underlying reporting structures to enhance BMO team efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage business operations data, reporting, and analysis efforts for the Technology organization
• Define and create meaningful CIO-level executive reporting, leveraging knowledge and experience with executive reporting needs and playing a central role in shaping strategic insights
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Technology to review existing reports and create new reporting solutions, ensuring alignment with existing data, streamlining delivery, and adhering to BMO guidelines
• Offer guidance and best practices during collaboration, understanding broader objectives while working through technical details to deliver optimal reporting solutions
• Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications that align with their data standards
• Facilitate meetings, presentations, and updates for senior management and key stakeholders, leading through influence and maintaining strong executive presence
• Directly lead, coach, and mentor BMO analysts and reporting resources, including reviewing technical work and guiding problem-solving efforts on reporting and data challenges
• Perform data validation and troubleshoot reporting anomalies using best practices for data aggregation and report development
• Act as a primary point of contact for the BMO, delivering excellent customer service to internal stakeholders while balancing operational efficiency
• Manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, assessing underlying risks and re-prioritizing work as needed
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for processes, procedures, and system configurations
• Create new business processes and continuously improve existing processes, reports, and methodologies to increase efficiency and deliverable quality
• Own and support budget reporting, staffing reporting, workforce reporting, operational reporting, and spend reporting for the BMO and Technology organization
• Drive reporting automation initiatives to eliminate manual, spreadsheet-based processes and establish reporting standards, governance frameworks, and data quality controls
• Understand and maintain knowledge of the reporting architecture across tools including AWS Athena, ServiceNow, SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Excel, identifying opportunities for scalability and efficiency improvements
• Synthesize complex data into key messages and strategic insights, effectively communicating the 'so what' to Technology leaders and tying findings back to business needs

The ideal candidate:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial and operations analysis, preferably within a financial services organization or within a technology line of business supporting a financial services enterprise
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders and executive audiences
• Ability to draw out key messages from data and translate technical analysis into compelling business narratives that resonate with executive and C-suite audiences
• Strong data analysis and report creation capabilities; able to synthesize data into actionable insights and drive strategic conversations
• Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce reporting standards, governance policies, and data quality practices
• Proven experience as a working manager who leads, coaches, and develops analysts while remaining a hands-on contributor
• Critical thinker with strong organizational skills, detail-oriented with an unwavering focus on quality and accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent efforts while ensuring high-quality, on-time delivery
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, assess risks, and work independently
• Required hands-on experience with Tableau and Power BI as a practitioner who can personally build reports and dashboards
• Strong proficiency with AWS Athena and SQL for data querying and analysis
• Experience with Python for reporting automation and data processing
• Familiarity with ServiceNow, SharePoint, Power Apps, and Power Automate
• Strong familiarity with FP&A, forecasting, and budgeting concepts (while this is not a Finance role, financial acumen is essential)
• Strong executive presence with the ability to engage confidently with senior leadership and influence cross-functional stakeholder groups
