Job summary

Ameriprise Financial Inc. is seeking a Business Program Manager – Privacy within the Privacy team of the Financial Crimes Compliance group to coordinate the privacy program and functions.

You will partner with privacy attorneys, business groups and information security to ensure data privacy and regulatory compliance. The role involves leading privacy risk assessments, developing program objectives, and maintaining training while coordinating updates to notices.

Qualifications

  • Experience in privacy, investigations, risk management or project management.
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience developing policies and procedures.
  • Able to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration across teams and effective communication.
  • IAPP certification (CIPM, CIPP, CIPT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead privacy and data protection risk assessments and management activities.
  • Plan, develop, and implement privacy program objectives under the direction of the Privacy Compliance Director.
  • Maintain global privacy training program.
  • Identify & implement opportunities to improve our privacy policies and practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate annual updates to privacy notices and reviews of marketing requests to ensure compliance with those notices.
  • Represents privacy in the Privacy Impact Assessment process; interview, assess, formulate, track & drive resolution regarding privacy requirements on projects.
  • Assist in privacy investigations, including forensic investigations.
  • Raises risks & issues to leadership on a timely basis & work with appropriate parties to create mitigation plans.
  • Works effectively with business partners to ensure alignment & integration of privacy deliverables is achieved.
  • Provide decision support and thought leadership through data gathering, information analyzing, and presenting considerations to relevant stakeholders.

Job Description This position will be on the Privacy team within the Financial Crimes Compliance group. The Business Program Manager – Privacy will provide coordination, administration, and support for the privacy program and functions of the Global Privacy Team. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including our privacy attorneys, business groups and information security to ensure data privacy, protection, and compliance with industry best practices and regulations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in privacy, investigations, risk management or project management.
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience developing policies and procedures.
  • Motivated self-starter who can effectively plan and balance multiple priorities in an organized fashion to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to drive results and work collaboratively cross-organizationally to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze issues and think critically to resolve problems.
  • Comfortable and adept in dealing with ambiguity.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
  • Experience developing training materials.
  • 3+ years of experience in privacy risk and program management, particularly in a large financial services company.
  • IAPP certification (CIPM, CIPP, CIPT).
In-Office Collaboration

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $93,400 - $128,400 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
