Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Business Performance Associate Director to lead the development and advancement of business performance capabilities across Global Quality. You will translate strategies into actionable insights, build dashboards, and drive value realization while partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

You will develop scalable tools, integrate data, and support portfolio prioritization and long-range planning.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate or higher with 3+ years in Quality/Operational Excellence
  • Masters with 5+ years in Quality/Operational Excellence
  • Bachelors with 7+ years in Quality/Operational Excellence
  • Associates with 12+ years in Quality/Operational Excellence
  • High school diploma with 14+ years in Quality/Operational Excellence

Business Performance Associate Director
What you will do

Lets do this! Lets change the world! As a member of the Global Quality Strategy Organization team, this individual will lead the development and advancement of business performance capabilities that connect strategy, investment, execution, and value realization across Global Quality. The role involves cross-functional partnership and influence to ensure strategic priorities and investments are supported by robust business cases, measurable outcomes, actionable performance insights, and disciplined value realization, strengthening accountability and enabling data-driven resource and portfolio decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of robust business cases for strategic initiatives, translating operational needs, financial considerations, risks, and expected benefits into clear recommendations that enable leadership decision-making and investment prioritization.

  • Establish frameworks and mechanisms to define, track, and demonstrate the value of strategic initiatives, including financial, operational, capacity, quality, and organizational benefits; partner with initiative owners to ensure benefits are realized and sustained.

  • Integrate operational, portfolio, and financial data to identify performance trends, opportunities, and trade-offs, translating complex information into actionable insights and executive-level recommendations.

  • Partner with functional leaders to connect strategy, investments, resources, and execution supporting portfolio prioritization, scenario planning, resource allocation, and long-range business planning.

  • Develop scalable business performance tools, dashboards, governance mechanisms, and decision frameworks that strengthen organizational visibility, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leaders, challenging assumptions, framing complex business problems, evaluating alternatives, and influencing decisions that improve organizational performance and maximize value.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 3 years of Quality and/or Operational Excellence experience OR

  • Masters degree and 5 years of Quality and/or Operational Excellence experience OR

  • Bachelors degree and 7 years of Quality and/or Operational Excellence experience OR

  • Associates degree and 12 years of Quality and/or Operational Excellence experience OR

  • High school diploma / GED and 14 years of Quality and/or Operational Excellence experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience partnering with and influencing leadership and customers

  • Direct experience in cross-functional business operations and strategic project management role

  • Ability to effectively present ideas and document complex concepts and processes in both written & oral communication

  • Understanding of Quality and GxP

  • Demonstrated ability to execute and manage complex projects and programs

  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen

  • Understanding of emerging technologies, such as AI, and their application to day-to-day activities

  • Strong and broad understanding of Global Quality functional interdependencies.

  • Highly structured and organized

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and supporting functions (e.g., Technology, Finance)

  • Adapting and thriving in a rapidly changing and fast-moving environment

  • Models good Decision-making behaviors and reinforces proper decision making and meeting management according to DAI framework

  • Independent, motivated, and proactive team member with experience in a matrixed, highly fluid environment

  • Ability to foster collaboration, work effectively on cross-functional teams and consistently deliver on-time while serving as a role model for Amgen values and leadership attributes

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
