Tono Health in New York City is seeking a Business Operations Lead to own the end-to-end performance of the Tono system, including patient access speed, calendar utilization, and show readiness. You will pull data, build models, and ship fixes with ROI-attached specs for engineers.
The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, data-driven, and ready to shape a fast-growing, early-stage company where the role starts as a founding seat and evolves with the business.
Tono Health is the AI-native specialty dermatology platform. We connect dermatologists and leading subspecialists with the patients who need them, across 33 states, in partnership with leading health systems & cancer centers. We built our own AI-powered dermatology EMR and practice-management platform to run it, and our programs medical dermatology, complex immunology (including hidradenitis suppurativa), supportive oncodermatology, and hair & cosmetic dermatology from our flagship in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
We hold a high bar. Our team comes from Apple, Twitter, and Amazon. Our physicians trained and practiced at Columbia, Einstein, Harvard, Mount Sinai, Memorial Sloan Kettering and other leading medical institutions. Together we’re building the company at the intersection of world-class medicine and AI-native engineering.
We’re backed by leading investors including Village Global, HOF Capital, and Oncology Ventures.
We believe everyone wants the best medicine. We run a first-class business in a first-class way, and we hire people who want to be part of a team that expects to win.
Join us in our mission to deliver life-changing care to more people in more places.
We’re looking for a Business Operations Lead to join our team, reporting directly to the CEO. Based in New York City. This is a founding seat, the first owner of Tono’s operating system and leveling is flexible: for the right person, it carries the Head of Business Operations title and mandate from day one. We level on demonstrated judgment, not years on a resume.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. You will own the performance of the Tono system end to end: how fast patients get to care, how full and how valuable our doctors’ calendars are, how reliably patients show up, come back, and refer, how referring physicians become loyal channels, and how our cost of acquisition falls as the flywheel spins. You’ll define the company’s metric tree, run the weekly scoreboard that drives our leadership operating meeting, name the binding constraint each quarter, and run the experiment queue that attacks it.
This is not a dashboards job and it is not a decks job. It is an ownership job with an analyst’s toolkit: you pull your own data, build your own models, ship the semi-automated version of a fix yourself, and hand our engineers ranked, ROI-attached specs for the versions that deserve real product. You are the first dedicated hire on this problem, you work directly with the CEO, and the function gets built in your image.
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience, work hard, and be challenged in a fast-growing, early‑stage company. You’ll work closely with the CEO on the core issues that determine whether Tono wins. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, eager to learn, and ready to help shape the future. You’ll work alongside top‑tier talent and measure your own capabilities. While this isn’t your typical 9‑to‑5, at Tono, we are a meritocracy, and the sky’s the limit.
Functional Expertise: A “spike” in one or more of marketplace operations, growth and channel economics, healthcare operations, or product analytics.
Analytical & Communication Skills: Exceptional at modeling, synthesizing data, and turning insights into decisions. You work directly in the data: AI can write much of the SQL, you can read it, audit it, and tell when a number is lying. You define metrics precisely, build your own dashboards, and use modern AI tooling aggressively to ship without waiting on anyone. Able to communicate complex ideas with precision, to executives, physicians, and partners alike.
