Job summary

Notion is seeking a Business Operations leader based in San Francisco to partner with Engineering, Product and Design. You’ll structure strategic questions, build quantitative models, and illuminate opportunities for senior leaders to act on.

You’ll own cross-functional strategy, develop hypotheses, and communicate clear recommendations. Strong finance, analytics, and AI fluency are essential, plus comfort in a fast-growing, evolving environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of strategy experience, including 2+ years in consulting or related field.
• Excellent quantitative and financial modeling skills with the attention to detail and quality bar for decisions that affect products and the business
• Outstanding executive-level written and verbal communication skills; can operate independently with senior stakeholders
• Genuine enthusiasm for and proficiency with AI tools; we use AI across the board to move faster and work smarter
• Hands-on fluency with modern AI tools such as Notion AI, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar; you actively experiment with new models and workflows and use judgment to apply them responsibly
• Data self-sufficiency, including working knowledge of SQL and the ability to access, assess, and synthesize relevant data without relying on outside support

• Build trusted relationships with cross-functional leaders to define and implement strategy across all Notion products, driving increased value to our users and our business
• Structure complex, ambiguous strategic problems for the Notion leadership team, defining clear hypotheses and building detailed business cases and quantitative models that will inform and influence our approach
• Work closely with cross-functional leaders to define and manage key drivers of business performance, identifying areas of opportunity and incorporating them into your work
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of our competitive positioning by using, assessing, and developing insights about peer businesses to inform your recommendations
• Deeply understand Notion customers and the broader market landscape to uncover insights that inform your recommendations
• Create scalable solutions that combine a broad vision for what is possible with an understanding of the practical demands that constrain them

About the Role

This is an opportunity to serve as a key partner and advisor on Notion’s Business Operations team, working primarily with our Engineering, Product, & Design teams. Business Operations is a cross-functional team that partners with senior leaders across the company, focusing on high-impact strategic projects and analysis. In this role, you’ll work hand-in-hand with leadership to identify, structure, and act on the most challenging strategic and operational questions impacting our business.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We’re looking for someone who’s excited to work alongside the team during those days.

Nice to Haves

• Prior experience in strategy and operations in B2B SaaS businesses




• Experience with pricing & packaging, especially for AI products

Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco, the estimated base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $175,000 per year.

You don’t need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect every Notino to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work.
