Job summary

Honeycomb Insurance is seeking a Business Operations Manager in Chicago. You will lead cross-functional initiatives, design processes, and drive operational improvements across underwriting, marketing, sales, RevOps, Support, Product, and R&D.

The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, AI tooling, and scalable workflows. You will report to the Director of Customer Service and Business Operations, work in a hybrid mode from the Chicago office three days a week, and collaborate with senior leaders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in consulting, operations management, underwriting operations, finance or strategic initiatives.
  • Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and driving projects to tangible results.
  • Strong data analysis skills using analytics tools (Excel, Tableau) to inform decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with input from teams and leaders across the company.
  • Manage initiatives from analyses and business case development to planning, execution, reporting and impact tracking.
  • Identify where AI tools can automate operational work and deploy scalable solutions.
  • Develop data-driven insights and dashboards to monitor KPIs and outcomes.
  • Provide updates to senior leadership on project status, risks and results.

About The Opportunity

As Honeycomb’s Business Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving cross-functional projects aimed at achieving impactful business outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Customer Service and Business Operations, you will collaborate closely with teams across Underwriting, Marketing, Sales, RevOps, Support, Product, and R&D. Your impact will be measured by how well you lead initiatives, design and optimize processes, improve efficiencies, and ensure operational alignment with the company's overall strategic goals.

What You’ll Do
Lead Initiatives:
  • Drive critical cross-functional initiatives autonomously with input from teams and leaders across Honeycomb
  • Manage all aspects of your key initiatives, including analyses, business case development, strategic and tactical planning, execution, reporting, enablement, and impact tracking
AI & Automation:
  • Identify where AI tools can take on operational work, then build, test, and deploy solutions that drive scale across operational teams
  • Serve as a go-to resource for teams adopting AI tools in their day-to-day work
Process Innovation:
  • Identify areas for operational improvement across functions and propose data-backed solutions to streamline processes, increase efficiency, and improve scalability
  • Document and implement updated processes, dataflows, operational workflows, and tools that improve operational performance and scalability
  • Drive the adoption of new tools, processes, and workflows that improve how work gets done across the organization
Data-Driven Insights:
  • Analyze critical KPIs to understand end-to-end metrics, identify trends, and uncover opportunities for improvement
  • Back recommendations, proposals, and business decisions with data, with the company's strategic goals and OKRs in mind
  • Partner with BI and RevOps teams to build operational dashboards in Tableau to manage processes and business outcomes
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:
  • Partner with senior leadership to define and prioritize strategic initiatives that drive measurable business results
  • Lead and partner on cross-functional strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines
  • Provide regular updates to leadership and cross-functional teams on project status, risks, and outcomes
  • Prepare reports and presentations on KPIs, project progress, and results
Change Management & Implementation:
  • Drive execution of process changes and new initiatives across the company, including adoption reporting and impact tracking
  • Provide enablement and training to help internal teams navigate new processes, systems, and AI tools
  • Partner with stakeholders to drive adoption and ensure new solutions are effectively implemented
Business Operations:
  • Support other operational projects as they arise, such as sourcing and managing a new office lease or move
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related quantitative related field (MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in consulting, operations management, underwriting operations, finance or strategic initiatives, preferably in an Insurtech, tech, Insurance technology department, or financial services environment.
  • Strong leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and driving projects that deliver tangible business results in high-stakes environments.
  • Strong in data analysis and using analytics tools (Excel, Tableau, etc.) to inform decisions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and teams.
  • Proven ability to autonomously manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry trends and regulatory environment is a plus.
  • Ability to express and consider diverse opinions.
  • Passion for acquiring, applying, and sharing knowledge.
  • Must be based in Chicago and excited about working hybrid from the office 3 days a week.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 (Pending Experience) + Bonus
