The Law Enforcement Records Bureau (LERB) gathers, preserves, and disseminates criminal justice data in support of public safety. Through state and federal partnerships, LERB serves as the state's official repository for millions of fingerprint records and criminal history records. The bureau functions at a high operational tempo with large volumes of data, records, and modernization projects. Major programs include the Missing Persons, Concealed Carry, Sex Offender Registration, and support to vital law enforcement databases such as NCIC, Triple I, and NIBRS. While administrative in nature, LERB is not a traditional records bureau due to its operational impact and oversight of New Mexico's public safety records, data, and intelligence sharing infrastructure.

Missing Persons team. This unit receives and processes missing persons reports from law enforcement agencies. Missing persons are recorded in central state and national databases for cross-collaboration in their recovery. Staff update and maintain the public-facing DPS missing persons website for New Mexico. Additionally, they assist with public alerts and participate in public, community events to promote missing persons awareness.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
The Missing Persons Clearinghouse maintains a centralized file for exchange of information on missing persons and unidentified human remains. They gather information and facilitate intrastate communication with federal, national, and international law enforcement agencies. They comply with Chapter 29, Article 15 NMSA 2011/Missing Person Information Clearinghouse. They interpret applicable statutes, policy, procedures or regulations for drafting correspondence, final reports and training related to missing persons; assist NCIC with missing persons entries audits. Liaise with local, state, federal officials as well as public, civic, nonprofit, and private agencies to disseminate information. Keep abreast of changing policies, laws, regulations, and national trends. Coordinate activities between local, state, and federal, and private programs.
General public, law enforcement, courts, corrections, criminal agencies, and non-criminal agencies, state positions of trust.
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Successful employment is contingent upon passing a national fingerprint-based background check prior to employment. Continued employment requires a felony-free record, in compliance with the CJIS Security Policy. Statewide travel is required. In addition, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico.
This position is based in an office environment, involving extensive use of computers, video display terminals, and telephones, with extended periods of sitting. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, along with frequent walking, standing, sitting, and bending. Occasional statewide travel is required.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour lunch. Currently, DPS does not offer telework arrangements.
