Penn State University Libraries invites applications for a Business Librarian (Assistant/Associate Librarian) at University Park. This tenure-track faculty position will serve as the subject liaison for Economics in the College of the Liberal Arts and for Accounting, Finance, and Risk Management in the Smeal College of Business.

The librarian will contribute to instructional programs, reference and research services, and collection development while engaging in scholarly activity and service,

Business Librarian

POSITION SPECIFICS

The Pennsylvania State University Libraries invite applications and nominations for Business Librarian (Assistant/Associate Librarian) at its University Park Campus. We seek a proactive and creative candidate for a tenure-track faculty position in the Schreyer Business Library https://libraries.psu.edu/business. The candidate will serve as the subject specialist and liaison for the Department of Economics in the College of the Liberal Arts (https://la.psu.edu/) and the Departments of Accounting, Finance, and Risk Management in the Smeal College of Business (https://www.smeal.psu.edu/). In addition, this librarian will assist with the unit's work with foundational business courses. Successful candidates will benefit from the strong mentoring program developed by the University Libraries to support new faculty in tenure-track appointments in fulfilling expectations in the areas of librarianship, research, and service. Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver a program of library instruction (including the development of online library guides and tutorials) that supports the curriculum of liaison academic units.
• Provide reference assistance and research consulting (both face-to-face and online) for subject-specific research at all levels.
• Build, maintain, and assess collections in all media and formats to support research and teaching in assigned academic units. Collaborate and coordinate with librarians in related subject areas and libraries, including Commonwealth Campus Libraries (CCLs) and peers through the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA).
• Participate in the intellectual life and operations of assigned academic units; engage with faculty and students as a colleague in both disciplinary activities and in library services; and serve as liaison to centers affiliated with assigned academic units.
• Contribute to the advancement of Penn State Libraries' programs for scholarly communication, open access (OA) initiatives, and open educational resources (OER).
• Engage in research, scholarly publication, and professionalserviceactivitiesin areas appropriate to academic librarianship and the disciplinesserved.
• Perform other duties asassigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Masters of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution (or relevant graduate degree)
• Instruction and/or reference experience in an academic, special, or research library
• Ability to work independently andcollaboratively
• Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusiveworkplace
• Potential to achieve the requirements for tenure and promotion in the areas of librarianship, research, and service
• Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in business librarianship
• Demonstrated experience or education working with business, economics, or related information sources
• Familiarity with business information sources
• Experience finding and using economic, financial, and related data to support research

Academic Rank:

Candidates for the rank of Assistant Librarian should possess a graduate degree in library or information studies or other appropriate degree; must have demonstrated potential ability as a librarian; and must have shown promise of growth in research and service. Candidates for the rank of Associate Librarian should possess the same qualifications as the assistant librarian, demonstrate excellence in librarianship, show evidence of an established reputation in research, and have a strong record of service to the University and the profession.
