PPL Electric Utilities in Allentown, PA invites a college student to join as an Intern/Co-op. This full-time, temporary position provides practical work experience in the student’s field, with a focus on energy efficiency and program design. Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related degree.
• Holding full-time enrollment (at least 12 semester hours); students cannot continue after graduation.
• Holding a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Eligible to work under USCIS regulations.
• Able to provide official transcripts and other required information.
• 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Supporting overall energy efficiency and peak demand reduction customer-facing programs.
• Assisting program managers through invoice review, database reporting, and other key departmental functions.
• Supporting pilot design and implementation.
• Tracking program participation data, energy savings metrics.
• Communicating with external partners and vendors, addressing eligibility issues, customer concerns, and evaluating proposals.
• Identifying and providing process improvement opportunities throughout the workflow.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Overview

A PPL Intern/Coop is a full-time college student, temporarily employed, who is enrolled in an accredited four-year institution. This program is designed to provide practical work experience in the student’s field of study, helping participants clarify their career interests. Eligible students must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree and maintain full-time enrollment.

The position is based in Allentown, PA and follows a hybrid work schedule. During the spring and fall semesters, interns work part-time (approximately 20–30 hours per week). Summer schedules may be either part-time or full-time (up to 40 hours per week). The company offers flexibility in arranging the part-time work hours (8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday through Friday) to accommodate the student’s class schedule.

Apart from daily responsibilities, students gain exposure to a corporate environment, acquiring practical skills and knowledge to complement classroom learning. Interns and cooperative associates at PPL have opportunities to:

The intern supports the Energy Efficiency and Conservation team and gains a comprehensive understanding of program design and implementation, vendor management and contracting, evaluation, measurement, and verification, as well as data analytics. Through hands-on experience, the intern develops familiarity with PPL policies and procedures while participating in internal and external meetings, forecasting, complex problem solving and addressing regulatory issues.
