The role executes the governance and operating model established by Business Process Optimization and is responsible for day-to-day platform administration, solution development, data troubleshooting, security, lifecycle management, user enablement, and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on manager-level position for a technically strong BI professional who can translate business requirements into scalable workflows, datasets, dashboards, and reports while coordinating with Finance, Enterprise Data, IT, and business stakeholders.
The Business Process Optimization Director owns enterprise BI strategy, governance direction, prioritization, and executive alignment. The BI Platform Manager turns that strategy into reliable day-to-day execution and measurable operational outcomes.
Administer enterprise BI platform settings, environments, licenses, users, groups, roles, permissions, and access controls.
Monitor platform health, dataset refreshes, connectors, APIs, dataflows, capacity, storage, and performance.
Coordinate incident response and restore service when platform, integration, or refresh issues occur.
Architect scalable BI workflows, dataflows, semantic structures, dashboards, reports, alerts, and reusable components.
Translate operational requirements into intuitive solutions that support decision-making and reduce manual work.
Develop and enhance dashboards and reports using sound visualization, usability, performance, and accessibility practices.
Investigate discrepancies, failed refreshes, incomplete data, connector errors, transformation issues, and unexpected report results.
Trace issues across source systems, ODH/Synapse, integrations, platform transformations, and front-end calculations.
Partner with Enterprise Data, IT, Finance, and source-system owners to resolve root causes and validate corrected outputs.
Execute standards for naming, ownership, certification, documentation, security, development, promotion, publishing, archival, and retirement.
Maintain asset inventories, lineage, business and technical ownership, usage information, and certification status.
Identify duplicate, inactive, obsolete, ownerless, or high‑risk assets and coordinate remediation or retirement.
Gather and clarify requirements, recommend appropriate solutions, and communicate trade‑offs to business stakeholders.
Provide office hours, training, job aids, templates, and guidance for viewers, creators, and power users.
Promote responsible self‑service while ensuring enterprise standards and ownership requirements are followed.
Coordinate testing, validation, promotion, and communication for platform releases and solution deployments.
Apply role‑based access, privacy, segregation‑of‑duty, and external‑sharing controls in partnership with IT and business owners.
Maintain clear DEV / TEST / PROD or equivalent promotion processes and rollback procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve performance, automate recurring work, simplify workflows, reduce technical debt, and strengthen user experience.
Maintain the BI Operational Scorecard, including reliability, governance, adoption, data alignment, and business‑value measures.
Use platform telemetry, stakeholder feedback, incident trends, and usage patterns to recommend and execute improvements.
5+ years of progressive experience in Business Intelligence, analytics engineering, BI platform administration, data visualization, or a related field.
Hands‑on experience administering and developing within a modern BI platform; DOMO experience is strongly preferred, with comparable experience in Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Sigma, or similar platforms also relevant.
Strong SQL skills and practical knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT, APIs, connectors, dataflows, semantic layers, and enterprise data warehouses.
Demonstrated ability to architect workflows and build effective dashboards, reports, alerts, and operational analytics solutions.
Experience troubleshooting data‑quality, refresh, integration, calculation, security, and performance issues across the end‑to‑end data flow.
Working knowledge of BI governance, metadata, lineage, certification, access management, release management, and asset lifecycle practices.
Strong stakeholder communication, requirements gathering, prioritization, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and translate technical issues into clear business language.
Experience with DOMO Workbench, Magic ETL, SQL DataFlows, Beast Modes, cards, dashboards, apps, APIs, and platform administration.
Experience working with ODH/Synapse or another cloud data warehouse and with enterprise systems such as ERP, finance, HR, project, or CRM platforms.
Experience supporting financial and operational reporting in a complex, multi‑agency, healthcare, advertising, or professional‑services environment.
Experience leading training, governance reviews, platform rationalization, or continuous‑improvement initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, Finance, Operations, or a related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
Enterprise BI strategy, governance direction, executive sponsorship, and final prioritization remain with the Business Process Optimization Director.
Financial policy, accounting definitions, official financial reporting, planning, and forecasting remain with Finance.
Enterprise data architecture, ODH/Synapse ownership, master data, and enterprise data models remain with Enterprise Data.
Core infrastructure, cybersecurity policy, and enterprise technology architecture remain with IT.
This job description describes the primary responsibilities of the role and may evolve as the enterprise BI ecosystem, data architecture, and business priorities change.
