In the Business Intelligence Lead role, the individual will lead and develop data & BI solutions for Group Insurance. This involves working with business leaders on project requirements, solution design, and end-to-end development to drive actionable insights and data-driven decision making. This includes technical data analysis and development in the data lake and source systems, as well as development of highly interactive dashboards and visualizations, and related ad hoc reporting needs. They will also oversee and guide BI & data resources across the delivery lifecycle to ensure consistency and end-to-end quality.
Design and develop scalable reports and dashboards built on standard data structures, delivering actionable insights and enabling data-driven decision making across the business
Partner closely with stakeholders across Technology, Enterprise Data, Enterprise Analytics, and business teams to understand needs, prioritize work, and develop integrated, end-to-end BI solutions
Lead prioritization of BI and data requests, balancing strategic initiatives and ad hoc needs to ensure timely, high-impact delivery aligned to business priorities
Drive and support Data Enablement initiatives that improve data accessibility, standardization, and usability, with a focus on delivering self-service capabilities that empower business users and accelerate insight generation
Support Product related BI needs related to monitoring product health, and creating insights to improve performance and growth
Identify and advance opportunities to streamline data processes and reduce friction across the data lifecycle, improving speed to delivery, consistency, and overall effectiveness of BI solutions
Demonstrate strong people leadership by managing diverse team, resolving conflicts in a professional and constructive manner, and fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment
Partner with Digital & Technology (D&T) to define, design, and deliver scalable data solutions that enhance access to trusted data and support faster, insight-driven decision making
Lead complex and cross-functional IT and business intelligence solutions
Lead, guide, and mentor BI associates on design, visualization, data, and insight disciplines, while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment that motivates individuals and supports diverse working styles
Lead multiple tasks/projects as team leader and functional lead
Lead the workstream planning process from inception through technical design, development, testing, and delivery of BI solutions
Lead and develop the business intelligence solution in standard tools (Tableau)
Interpret and create business requirements and determine optimal BI solutions
Perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data from varied functional and technical platforms, translating findings into actionable insights that support decision-making and business outcomes
Design and deliver end-user training and training materials
Train users to transform data into action-oriented information and ensure proper usage
Provide guidance, training, and problem-solving assistance to other team members
Proactive, resourceful, impact-oriented, and an excellent problem solver who can identify issues and perform analysis
Strong in interpersonal skills, maturity, and judgment with the ability to navigate relationships up and down the organization, manage differing perspectives, and resolve challenges in a constructive and professional manner

Strong history of BI solution delivery
Broad knowledge of data architecture design (data marts, etc.) and data analysis principles
Strong SQL and BI skillsets (Tableau)
Strong background using technology to effect process improvements
Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and lead teams encompassing highly technical resources
Proven ability to build and leverage relationships across diverse stakeholders
Very strong ability to communicate and present to senior and executive-level management
Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
Ability to influence while building trust and consensus among multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams with competing interests
Experience handling ambiguity in high-visibility enterprise initiatives and the ability to establish structure and direction
Experience managing complex projects and timelines
Ability to collaborate and develop strong relationships across multiple functions and businesses
10+ years’ experience in data management and business intelligence, including team leadership background
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Experience within the insurance industry – preferably Group
Advanced experience with data modeling, relational databases, data enablement and reporting
Advanced experience with SQL and BI tools (i.e. Databricks, Tableau)
Advanced experience with Excel, Microsoft Office products, and data visualization technologies
Experience leading multiple projects and delivering on or before deadlines
Proven ability to link business objectives with appropriate reporting and monitoring tools
Experience managing staff in a virtual environment
Be exposed to and influence the strategy of Guardian senior executives
Develop expertise across a variety of functions and businesses
Gain exposure to other roles and parts of the Group business
Be mentored and coached by experienced leaders on strategy, problem solving, analytics, communication and leadership, while mentoring and developing junior team members
$110,350.00 - $181,285.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
