ssacareers is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to join the Procurement Data & Tools team in Seattle. You will build internal dashboards, data pipelines, and tools that empower procurement decisions, blending software development with data engineering and product thinking.

You'll work with users to define problems, shape solutions, and deliver production-ready software with measurable business value, including AI-assisted workflows and data-driven decision support.

Qualifications

• 2-6+ years building applications, internal tools, or data solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong product judgment and ability to turn ambiguous problems into practical solutions.
• Proficiency in at least one language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C#) and reading/debugging code.
• Hands-on experience with coding agents and data tooling, plus basic CI/CD workflows.

Job description

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you’ll join our Procurement Data & Tools team, a small product team inside a large global business. We build internal web apps, dashboards, data pipelines, and other tools that help procurement teams make decisions and get work done.

This is broader than a traditional BI role, bringing together software development, data engineering, analytics, and product thinking. It’s a role for a strong technical generalist who enjoys moving between disciplines, learning new tools, and choosing the right approach for each problem.

You’ll work directly with users to understand their challenges, identify what is worth building, and turn an unclear problem into a useful product. You won’t just implement finished specifications. You’ll help define the problem, shape the solution, and refine it based on feedback from the people using it. Your judgment will influence both what gets built and how it works.

You’ll get many of the things that draw people to early-stage teams: broad responsibility, fast feedback, visible impact, and room to take initiative. You’ll be close to the people using your work and able to see the difference it makes, all within the stability and scale of an established operating business.

AI coding agents are central to how we build. You’ll help shape and improve that development workflow, combining modern tools with sound technical and product judgment to deliver production-ready software with measurable business value. Your influence will extend beyond individual projects to how the team builds and improves its products.

• Work directly with procurement users to understand their workflows, identify problems worth solving, and turn ambiguous needs into clear requirements.
• Build and maintain internal applications, reports, data pipelines, data models, automations, and system integrations.
• Build and ship with coding agents as a core part of your workflow, defining the work, providing the right context, and steering implementation. Own the result through sound technical judgment, review, and verification.
• Occasionally dig into data to answer specific business questions and communicate the findings clearly.
• Shape how solutions work and feel, applying product and UI/UX judgment to make them useful, understandable, and easy to use.
• Help shape how the team builds with AI, experimenting with agent skills, tools, and workflows and turning what works into reusable improvements that help the team ship better software, faster.
• Help deploy, support, and improve the team’s solutions based on real use and feedback.
• Learn and apply new technologies as business needs evolve.
• Other duties as assigned.

• 2-6+ years building applications, internal tools, automations, or data solutions, with flexibility based on your skills, judgment, and body of work.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating strong computer science and technical problem-solving fundamentals.
• Sound product judgment, clear communication with technical and nontechnical stakeholders, and the ability to turn ambiguous problems into practical solutions.
• A curious, self-directed approach to work, with demonstrated strength in learning unfamiliar technologies quickly and staying effective in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose language, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or C#, with experience building usable application interfaces and reading, debugging, and reasoning about application code.
• Hands‑on experience using coding agents for nontrivial development, with the judgment to manage context and tools, evaluate approaches, and verify results.
• Experience with Git and GitHub or similar platforms, including branching and merging, plus familiarity with terminal‑based development and basic CI/CD workflows.
• Working familiarity with SQL, relational data, data transformation and integration, and basic use of managed cloud services.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Pay Range: $120,000 - 160,000 per year

The posted compensation range is based on the applicable geographic market for the position and may vary depending on factors such as related experience and skill set. Final compensation will be determined based on these items and other relevant factors.

Hybrid Work: This position is required to work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in-office per week out of our Seattle, WA office.
