Job summary

Victory Church is seeking a data engineer/BI professional to design and build data solutions that empower ministries to steward resources wisely and make informed decisions. You will create dashboards, optimize SQL queries, and help scale a data warehouse across departments.

Responsibilities include collaborating with the BI team, maintaining data-source documentation, and supporting forecasting models for planning. A degree in CS with 2+ years of experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 2+ years experience.
• Ability to quickly learn various software solutions.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Experience with Tableau and Excel for data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain dashboards for financial, expense, and ministry objective analysis.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and data models.
• Explore and support the setup of a scalable data warehouse solution.
• Assist in setting business rules, parameters, and requirements for data and BI tools.
• Clean and organize databases to ensure accuracy and usability.
• Collaborate with Business Intelligence team to define data requirements.
• Maintain documentation of data sources, definitions, and BI tools.
• Collaborate with developers in other departments to effectively execute organization wide needs.
• Configure forecasting models for financial and operational planning.
• Provide technical support for ad hoc analysis requests.
• Participate in discussions around data strategy and tool enhancements.
• Maintain an ongoing curriculum of learning tasks including video courses, books, online courses, and other learning tools, and review learnings with appropriate team members.
• Analyze donor patterns, segmentation, and retention.
• Partner with Finance on reporting structures.
• Build ETL pipelines for systems integration.
• Expand data engineering across all ministries.

SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field of study w/ 2+ years of experience.
• Ability to quickly learn various software solutions.

COMPUTER / SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Proficiency in SQL, including query writing and optimization.
• Advanced skills in Tableau for dashboard creation and data visualization.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and advanced formulas.
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server and database management.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Preferred: Experience with Lava (Liquid) templating language for dynamic content generation.
