The Business Intelligence Data Scientist will analyze complex datasets, build predictive and prescriptive models, and translate findings into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. This Kansas-based hybrid role works with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven solutions across areas such as finance, actuarial/underwriting, marketing, data warehouse and IT, health analytics, and human resources.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large and complex data sets from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, and correlations, then convert results into actionable recommendations.
- Develop, test, deploy, and continuously evaluate predictive and prescriptive models and scenario forecasting using machine learning and statistical methods to improve performance.
- Create data visualizations and dashboards that communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into data-driven solutions, and present recommendations clearly and concisely while maintaining thorough documentation on data sources, preparation processes, mathematical models, dashboards, and BI activities.
- Maintain data quality, integrity, and security by building and implementing processes for data collection, cleaning, and preparation.
- Stay current on industry trends, tools, and technologies and evaluate new methodologies to enhance data analysis capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist, or in a related role.
- Experience with and knowledge of the healthcare delivery system and the health insurance industry is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Experience with data manipulation tools such as SQL and pandas.
- Knowledge of data warehouse structures, data extraction tools, analytics software and methods, and data modeling.
- Experience working with big data and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Ability to interpret rich data sources, manage large datasets, merge and ensure dataset consistency, visualize data for insights, build statistical models, recognize data and model limitations, and communicate results effectively.
Data Visualization
- Familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
- Demonstrated experience creating accessible, insightful, compelling, and branded visualizations.
Analytical and Communication Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including interpreting complex data to deliver actionable insights.
- Ability to apply, validate, and interpret results across machine learning contexts.
- Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills, including presenting complex insights to non-technical stakeholders.

- Ability to identify and apply underlying mathematical and statistical assumptions of datasets or algorithms.

Compensation
- USD 108,640 - 135,800 per year
