Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a data analytics and BI reporting professional to build and manage dashboards for Sales, Purchasing, and Inventory in Schaumburg, IL. You will collect requirements, translate them into dashboard specs, and deliver timely insights.

Responsibilities include ad hoc reporting, data visualization, and training key users on report usage. Strong SQL, Tableau/Power BI, and Excel (macros) skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in data-related field.
• 5+ years in data analysis, reporting, or database management.
• Strong knowledge of databases and reporting tools, especially SQL 2017+.
• Advanced proficiency with SAP BI/R3.
• Ability to translate complex data into actionable strategies for management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for non-technical stakeholders.

Job description

• Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual Business Innovation Division management and user reports involving Sales, Purchasing, and Inventory


• Gather, analyze, and visualize data to identify trends and monitor KPIs using SQL, Tableau, or Power BI


• Communicate with management to gather requirements and analyze solution proposals


• Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into dashboard specifications


• Perform complex, timely data analysis to support business decisions and improve KPIs


• Provide frequent ad hoc management reporting and recommendations for improvement


• Provide master data files to IT for extended applications and web form processes


• Document file systems and reporting procedures


• Instruct and train key users on report production, refresh, and use


• Manage file structures, application upgrades, and backup/recovery provisions


• Work with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and provide analytical support


• Implement data and file changes based on business initiatives


• Interface with IT to implement new reports, processes, changes, and enhancements


• Address report automation needs to improve timing and reduce manual effort


• Provide user acceptance testing for business-system upgrades


• Perform related duties as assigned by the manager

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in related fields such as Data Science or Computer Science, or work equivalent


• Five or more years of experience in a related area, e.g. data analysis, reporting, and database management


• Extensive knowledge of databases and reporting tools, particularly SQL 2017 or above


• Advanced proficiency with SAP BI/R3


• Ability to analyze complex data sets and translate findings into actionable business strategies


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present data insights to non-technical stakeholders


• Excellent problem-solving skills


• Ability to write clear data documentation and metric definitions


• Comfortable presenting findings to mixed audiences of technical and business stakeholders


• Ability to identify when stakeholders are asking the wrong question and redirect constructively


• Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members


• Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening, and presentation skills


• Good time management and multitasking abilities


• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including macro building, VLOOKUPs, and data imports


• Understanding of budgeting procedures, methods, evaluation criteria, and resource planning


• Ability to work outside normally scheduled hours, including weekends or holidays, approximately 10% of the time


• Microsoft SQL certification, Microsoft Access knowledge, Power BI, and sales-company experience are desired
