Job summary

Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP is seeking a Business Immigration Associate in Phoenix to join a team focused exclusively on immigration. You will manage client relationships, develop immigration strategies, and guide teams through complex matters, with opportunities for leadership and professional growth within a global firm.

Qualifications

  • U.S. JD or LLM required.
  • Member of a U.S. State bar or Washington, D.C. bar association.
  • 5–8 years of experience at Associate level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of immigration law.
  • Prior team management experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dedication to exceptional client service.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment with competing demands.

Responsibilities

  • Build, strengthen, and maintain strong client relationships with key stakeholders in client accounts, Partners and other relevant stakeholders; participate in client meetings, briefings, workshops, Q&A sessions, and provide client reporting.
  • Formulate immigration strategies for intricate matters with well‑structured arguments.
  • Engage with clients at middle and senior management levels; advise as a business advisor with knowledge of immigration law and industry context.
  • Develop sector-specific expertise and apply it to client scenarios.
  • Ensure team compliance with firm protocols, file maintenance, and data quality in Connect and other systems.
  • Research complex immigration issues and develop solutions; complete necessary documentation.
  • Independently perform case preparation and filing; develop strategies for complex matters.
  • Identify revenue opportunities by exploring new business initiatives within the client base.
  • Mentor and supervise Associates and staff; provide coaching and performance management.
  • Lead continuous improvement to quality, efficiency, and standardization of processes.

Responsibilities
  • Build, strengthen, and maintain strong client relationships with key stakeholders in client accounts, as well as Partners and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., take part in client meetings, briefings, workshops, Q&A sessions, proactively provide client reporting).
  • Formulate immigration strategies for intricate matters, demonstrating the capacity to present well‑structured and concise arguments.
  • Engage with clients at middle and senior management levels, offering counsel and consultation as necessary; serve as a business advisor with a comprehensive working knowledge of immigration law, demonstrating a keen grasp of the client, the industry, and the associated risks.
  • Acquire in‑depth expertise in sector‑specific issues and effectively apply this knowledge to address and resolve client scenarios.
  • Ensure self and team follow firm protocols with respect to file maintenance, record keeping, and use of firm’s systems including data quality in Connect and other firm technology.
  • Research complex technical immigration issues and formulate solutions, including completion of appropriate documentation.
  • Independently execute case preparation and filing and develop strategies for complex matters.
  • Identify and capitalize on revenue opportunities by exploring new business initiatives and recognizing potential growth avenues within the team’s existing client base.
  • Directly or indirectly supervise Associates and other staff, providing mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Lead the continuous improvement process, including seeking out and implementing opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and standardization of processes, products, or services.
  • Support Partners/senior team members on client proposals and pitches, practice area business plans, and leading or taking part in RFPs where appropriate.
  • Proactively identify and take part in marketing and business development opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration across teams locally, regionally, and firmwide.
  • Ensure self and team follow documented firm standards and policy to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory, operational and client compliance.
  • Other duties as required.
