Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Spade, a data and AI platform for transaction enrichment, seeks an Enterprise Business Development Representative to build outbound sales playbooks and break into top banks and fintechs. You’ll craft research-driven outreach, book meetings with AEs, and own pipeline quality with direct access to the CRO, AEs, and CEO.
You will lead from the ground up, defining channels, cadence, and tooling while maintaining CRM discipline and reporting.
Financial institutions process billions of transactions every day across cards, ACH, wires, and third party aggregators. But most of that data is difficult to use. Descriptions are inconsistent, merchant names don’t match, and categories vary by payment type.
Spade is a data and AI platform that turns messy transaction strings into structured, verified records — and gives teams the tools to act on it across authorization, attribution, analytics, and AI initiatives. Spade leads the market in terms of merchant coverage, matching accuracy, geolocation data, and speed of transaction enrichment. Customers such as, FIS, Bilt, Mercury, Stripe, alongside many other leaders in fintech and financial services, trust Spade's data to enable personalized rewards programs, accurate applied spending rules, precise analytics requests, and innovative AI-powered features.
Spade is a fast growing, Series B company backed by industry experts and top tier investors (including Oak HC/FT, a16z, Flourish Ventures, Y-Combinator, and Gradient Ventures). We’re a lean and execution-oriented hybrid team, passionate about building exceptional products for our growing customer base. We care deeply about diversity of background, experience, and opinion. We value empathy, curiosity, and passion, and strive to create an environment where individuals have autonomy and the ability to take ownership over their work.
As Spade's first Enterprise Business Development Representative, you'll build our outbound sales playbook from scratch - no inherited playbook, no legacy sequences, you decide how it works here. Breaking into accounts through tailored research and outbound, you'll work a named list of top banks and fintechs who already feel the problem Spade solves. And you'll do it with a direct line to the CRO, the AEs, and the CEO. You're getting in early at a company growing fast, with Stripe, Bilt, Mercury, PayPal and Citizens already on the customer list, so the Spade name carries weight in the accounts you're going after.
Build Spade's outbound motion from the ground up, from channels and cadence to tooling and the weekly operating rhythm
Work a named list of target banks and fintechs — research the accounts and the right people in them, break in, earn a reply, handle the first objections, and book a meeting with an AE
Own a qualified-meetings number and the pipeline behind it, measured on outcomes rather than daily activity quotas
Compose thoughtful sequences and messages on LinkedIn and email, testing messaging and channels to find what earns a reply from the target buyer
Hand off every booked meeting with context, so the AE walks in knowing who the buyer is, what they care about, and what's already been discussed
Keep the CRM accurate and report on reply rate, meetings booked, and show rate weekly
Own conference and dinner outreach, from invite lists and pre-booked meetings to seat fill and follow-up
Must Have:
2+ years of experience as an outbound BDR or SDR, breaking into enterprise accounts or financial institutions, against a meetings or pipeline number you regularly beat
A track record of breaking into enterprise accounts with tailored, well-researched outreach
Great writing — short, specific, in the buyer's language
Experience running conferences and events as a pipeline channel: pre-booking, seat fill, follow-up
Hunger and a drive to win. Self-driven, persistent, and creative when the obvious route does not work. You do not settle until the meeting is booked and held
Ability to work without a playbook. You have set up a BDR process from zero and run everything solo
Proficiency in outbound sales processes and tools. Salesforce or HubSpot, plus familiarity with the rest of an outbound stack
Nice to Have:
Experience selling to growth-stage and enterprise fintechs and/or banks
First or only BDR at a company
A real LinkedIn presence, or social selling that produces meetings
AI-fluency — built research or list-building workflows that make outreach sharper and faster
