Job summary

Columbia Distributing in Anchorage seeks a seasoned sales professional to lead brand and market initiatives. You will partner with supplier reps to build annual business plans, implement focus objectives, and drive volume, profit, and distribution targets.

You will analyze data to improve sales team performance, train staff, and ensure accurate category management and promotional execution. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) year previous sales experience
• Minimum one (1) year industry specific experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and AS400 system
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to build presentations and develop business reviews
• Strong leadership and team building skills

Responsibilities

• Work with supplier reps to create annual business plans and brand focus objectives
• Analyze data sources to drive sales performance
• Collaborate across teams to execute and train on Focus plans
• Support category management in brand objectives and resets
• Participate in sales meetings, promotions, and training
• Serve as a liaison between retailers, field sales and senior management
• Manage inventory and forecast brand demand within budget
• Conduct market surveys and maintain industry knowledge

Primary Responsibilities:

• Work with supplier representative to create annual business plan. Create and implement brand focus plan objectives to include company and supplier goals of volume, profit, distribution, display, promotions and marketing expense.
• Analyze available data sources and utilize data to drive improved performance within the sales teams and the retail trade.
• Work with supplier and sales teams on a consistent basis to ensure Focus plans are executed, achieved and training is performed.
• Work with and assist category management team to ensure brand objectives are met through the category management reset process.
• Actively participate in all sales meetings, promotional events and training sessions relevant to brand management.
• Serve as a primary conduit between retailers, field sales and senior management for all market intelligence.
• Develop and maintain positive, cooperative and team-orientated relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, retailers and others you come into contact with through your job.
• Manage inventory including brand forecasts as well as inventory expense versus budget.
• Market survey (MVP) program execution according to company standards.
• Maintain a high level of industry knowledge for beer and non-alcoholic beverages including education, Nielsen's, market share, trade journals, etc.
• Adhere to all state liquor laws and regulations.
• Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate department staff.
• Complete all other tasks or projects as assigned.
• Demonstrate behaviors consistent with those of the Company's Core Values at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education/Training:

• High School diploma or GED required

Licenses/Certifications:

• Valid driver's license and auto insurance required
• Sales Fundamental, Certified Sales Professional (CSP) and trade math training required upon hiring

Experience:

• Minimum five (5) year previous sales experience
• Minimum one (1) year industry specific experience

Knowledge/Skill:

• General knowledge of industry products
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Experience with an AS400 system
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to build presentations and develop business reviews
