Business Development Manager - Electric Power & Renewable Energy Construction

About The Role: We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team supporting electric power construction projects in distribution, transmission, substations, and renewable energy. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the electric utility industry, spanning both capital projects and O&M (operations & maintenance) work.

Renewable Energy, Battery Storage, Microgrids & EV Charging Focus: In addition to traditional power construction, this role places a strong emphasis on renewable energy markets, including solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and EV charging infrastructure.

Requirements:

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand business in distribution, transmission, substation, and renewable energy markets
  • Build and maintain relationships with utility clients, EPC partners, renewable developers, municipalities, and internal project teams
  • Lead discussions with clients regarding proposals, RFPs, contracts, and pricing
  • Collaborate with estimating teams on T&D and renewable project proposals, including BESS, microgrid, and EV charging integration
  • Negotiate effectively with clients to secure favorable contracts and long-term partnerships
  • Ensure thorough and timely follow-up on all client opportunities, proposals, and bids
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings
  • Provide regular reporting on pipeline, opportunities, and closed business

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in the electric utility/power construction, maintenance, or renewable energy industry
  • 5+ years of proven success in business development within the power and renewable energy sectors
  • Strong understanding of capital projects and maintenance (O&M) work in the power and renewable industries
  • Experience in solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and EV charging development and construction
  • Demonstrated success in closing deals and driving revenue growth
  • Proven track record in contract negotiations and proposal management
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with estimating, engineering, and field operations teams
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and follow-up skills
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time to meet with clients
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred
