Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a seasoned Business Development Manager to drive revenue and asset growth for Financial Advisors within the Wealth Management National Sales organization. You will oversee strategic initiatives, coach advisors, and coordinate regional efforts to deliver measurable outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in Wealth Management, hold the Series 7 and 66 licenses, and possess strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Wealth Management experience or equivalent product area/management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Active Series 7 and 66 within 120 days of hire.

  • Serve as a trusted consultant to Financial Advisors and align firm solutions with client and business needs.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of the Firm’s products and tools and position their capabilities.
  • Drive adoption of national initiatives and regional priorities through strategic execution and advisor engagement.
  • Develop and implement targeted business plans to support advisor growth and engagement.
  • Conduct book reviews and segmentation analyses to identify growth opportunities.
  • Deliver coaching, training, and practice management guidance to Financial Advisors.
  • Partner with product specialists and leaders to enhance advisor knowledge and solution adoption.
  • Lead rollout of firm initiatives through presentations, workshops, and coaching.
  • Facilitate training events and educational programs that support practice growth.

The Wealth Management National Sales organization supports the Firm’s Financial Advisors by managing the field sales support of non-banking products and the business development functions for our branch network.

As part of the Regional Sales Team, the Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving revenue and asset growth in their respective markets, executing strategic and tactical initiatives, providing ongoing practice management coaching and proactive ideas to Financial Advisors, and coordinating efforts around local, regional, and national initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serves as a trusted consultant to Financial Advisors, aligning firm solutions with client and business needs.
  • Maintains deep knowledge of the Firm’s full suite of products and tools and clearly positions their capabilities.
  • Drives adoption of national initiatives and regional priorities through strategic execution and advisor engagement.
  • Develops and implements targeted business plans that support advisor growth, engagement, and drive business results.
  • Conducts book reviews and segmentation analyses to identify growth opportunities.
  • Delivers coaching, training, and practice management guidance to Financial Advisors.
  • Partners with product specialists, market management, and business leaders to enhance advisor knowledge and solution adoption.
  • Leads rollout of firm initiatives through presentations, workshops, and one-on-one coaching.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on key platforms, tools, and strategic initiatives.
  • Facilitates training events and educational programs that support practice growth.
  • Coordinates external resources and industry partners to deliver value-added advisor support.
  • Collaborates across business units to execute strategic priorities and drive measurable outcomes.
Knowledge And Skills Required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Wealth Management, as a Financial Advisor (with satisfactory production and compliance record), or comparable product area or management experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Active Series 7, and 66 (or 63 and 65) required upon hire or within 120 days of hire date
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and demonstratable ability to establish alignment between the expectations and strategies of different stakeholders

Salary range for the position: $115,000 and $190,000 per year. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
