The role requires 5–8 years in BD/marketing within the AEC sector, a strong network in Columbus, and the ability to lead RFQ/RFP responses and client presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• 5–8 years of business development, client development, or marketing experience within the AEC industry.
• Established professional network in the Columbus commercial construction market.
• Strong understanding of the commercial construction industry and market trends.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies to grow Independence Construction's presence in Central Ohio.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new project opportunities across commercial markets.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, brokers, and other partners.
• Grow existing client relationships to encourage repeat business and long-term partnerships.
• Develop and maintain a target client list to identify key accounts and opportunities.
• Monitor market activity to identify trends and opportunities for early project positioning.
• Lead RFQ/RFP, proposal, and interview processes with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain a pipeline of prospective clients and projects toward goals.
• Collaborate with leadership and affiliated divisions to align growth strategies.

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth and expanding Independence Construction's presence in the Columbus market. This role focuses on developing new client relationships, strengthening existing partnerships, identifying project opportunities, and positioning the company for continued success across its commercial markets. This individual will work closely with company leadership, project teams, and marketing to strengthen existing partnerships, develop new relationships, and position the company for continued growth throughout Central Ohio.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute business development strategies to grow Independence Construction's presence and market share throughout Central Ohio.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new project opportunities across commercial markets, including corporate, industrial, healthcare, education, institutional, and mixed-use.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, brokers, and other key industry partners.
• Maintain and grow existing client relationships to encourage repeat business and long-term partnerships.
• Develop and maintain a target client list to proactively identify key accounts, decisionmakers, and opportunities for future growth.
• Monitor market activity and upcoming developments to identify trends, potential projects, and opportunities to position Independence Construction early in the project lifecycle.
• Establish and maintain a strong presence in the Columbus business community, representing Independence Construction at industry events, networking functions, and community organizations.
• Lead and coordinate the RFQ/RFP, proposal, and interview process in collaboration with marketing, estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams.
• Maintain a pipeline of prospective clients and project opportunities, tracking business development activity and progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with company leadership and affiliated DiGeronimo Companies divisions to identify opportunities and align growth strategies.

Do you have what it takes?

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• 5–8 years of business development, client development, or marketing experience within the AEC industry.
• Established professional network and relationships within the Columbus commercial construction market.
• Strong understanding of the commercial construction industry, project delivery methods, and local market trends.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships, identify opportunities, and generate new business.
• Experience with RFQ/RFP responses, proposal development, and client presentations.
• Excellent communication, presentation, networking, and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and pursuits.
