ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Purpose:
We are looking for a Business Development Director to take full ownership of our growth pipeline across the Americas. This is a high-impact role — you will be the driving force behind our new business engine, responsible for:
- Building and managing the BD pipeline end to end — from prospecting and outreach to qualification, proposal and close
- Leading networking and outbound efforts, and converting marketing-qualified leads into high-value opportunities
- Collaborating closely with our Group BD Director, Marketing Manager, Client Services and Delivery teams to win work from our ‘perfect world’ clients
This is a role for a proactive deal-maker who thrives on momentum, takes accountability for results, and is excited to make their mark in a fast-growing office with global support.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Ideal Candidate:
- You have a deep understanding of the role marketing and communications can play in driving a successful B2B business, and thrive in sharing this understanding while diagnosing challenge and prescribing marketing solutions
- You are a highly networked and well-connected individual with evidence of engaging with C-Suite, identifying and bringing opportunities with global businesses and closing deals of significant scale
- You are a consultative seller able to quickly earn trusted advisor status with business and marketing leaders
- You have strong commercial acumen and can uncover opportunities where business challenges can be unearthed, and addressed with marketing communications solutions
- You are an excellent team player and can work effectively with local and international internal teams, and external client-side, for a successful win-win outcome
- You have a passion and positive attitude for your role, with a strong sense of responsibility and take direct ownership of revenue performance and business results
- You have a track record of sales revenue generation and client satisfaction
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and direct new business opportunities, aligned to Fifth Ring’s offer, perfect world clients and industries
- Embody the consultative seller, achieving Trusted Advisor status with contacts
- Highly visible online and in person in Houston to position Fifth Ring as marketing communications consultants of choice for businesses looking for measurable impact or going through a period of change
- Immerse yourself and talk knowledgably about our target industries to understand trends, threats, opportunities and relationships
- Outbound BD activities to build relationships, nurture leads and lead consultative conversations, focussed on win-win solutions for our clients and Fifth Ring
- Work closely with Marketing Manager, lead exploratory calls with marketing qualified leads to establish core challenges and how Fifth Ring can support
- Collaborate with Client Services and delivery team subject matter experts, to deliver effective briefs and construct compelling, focussed, and effective proposals that meet client challenges and demonstrate the impact of our work
- Responding to appropriate tenders
- Attend networking sessions and events locally and regionally the full cycle of new business process from prospecting to close
- Keep abreast of latest news and trends in the marketing and communications space
- Act as an ambassador for the agency’s values, people and commercial interests
- Work effectively with the Traffic Manger to ensure client requirements are being met
- Any other duties that may be assigned that are compatible with skills and experience

Experience:
- Understanding of and experience in creating and executing compelling communication in different forms and how to tell a compelling story to motivate and inform different stakeholders.
- Experience and understanding of how to deliver comms in the modern omni-channel world.
- Knowledge and experience in international communication is advantageous
