About Us:

Maverick Payments is a family-owned and privately held full-service payment provider. Located in Calabasas, California, Maverick has created innovative technology designed for sales organizations, such as ISO’s and ISV’s, looking to monetize payments by reselling our white-labeled payments stack. Our products include merchant acquiring services, a proprietary gateway, ACH processing, fraud & chargeback tools, analytics, and other value-added services. Our team encompasses underwriting, risk management, compliance & legal, technology & product development, onboarding, customer support, IT, and more.

About the Position:

Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Director of Business Development (DBD) is responsible for maintaining close relationships with existing clients and partners. The DBD oversees the activities of the Business Development team, including personnel involved in account administration and reseller relationships, ensuring they are in good standing and aligned with company goals.

  1. Lead and perform all leadership functions within the Business Development departments.
  2. Plan and direct department work using independent judgment within company policies.
  3. Identify, evaluate, and pursue new and existing business opportunities.
  4. Manage hiring, training, and performance of Business Development staff.
  5. Recommend policy and procedure improvements to enhance business development.
  6. Negotiate new reseller agreements in partnership with legal and department leadership.
  7. Coordinate with Partner Success teams to handle escalations and manage existing relationships.
  8. Resolve complex or unique business development issues as an escalation point.
  9. Present tailored solutions to meet partner needs, including promotions, tools, and technology.
  10. Negotiate partner rates or terms to balance profitability and client needs.
  11. Attend industry events to develop new sales relationships.
  12. Engage with clients for satisfaction and renewal negotiations.
  13. Provide monthly reports on new and existing partner activities.
  14. Assist with social media and marketing efforts.
  15. Collaborate across departments to ensure cross-training and product promotion.
  16. Exercise independent judgment on escalations and responsibilities.
  17. Review and improve departmental duties and responsibilities.
  18. Handle activities related to business development, including prospecting, recruiting, and closing deals.
  19. Maintain close relationships with partners and develop new sales pipelines.
  20. Assign new leads to team members.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Sales or Business Development.
  • 2-5 years in a leadership role within merchant services.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or industry.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay Range: $120k - $140k annually plus commission.
