Summary

A global leading law firm is looking for a dynamic business development professional to help lead the continued growth of its Antitrust Department and Antitrust Litigation Practice Group, and to support other litigation practices and/or initiatives as needed. This is a high-impact, partner-facing business development and marketing role based in New York or DC with responsibilities that span the firm’s U.S. and UK and Brussels practices. The successful candidate will work closely with antitrust partners, as well as business development leadership and business professionals throughout the firm. The position requires intellectual curiosity, the ability to think critically and strategically about a range of topics and issues across the antitrust and competition law landscape, and exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will interact daily with globally recognized antitrust partners who are at the forefront of today’s most significant merger reviews, government investigations, and complex antitrust litigations. Together with business development leadership and firmwide operational teams, you will help shape and execute strategies that align with the firm’s strategic vision for its antitrust practice and accelerate practice growth across the U.S. and Europe. You will be exposed to the firm’s full capabilities as an active participant in cross-selling, business planning, and key client and industry group initiatives. This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in the growth and strategic direction of a market-leading antitrust practice on a global scale.

Together with dedicated junior team member support, and with guidance from business development leadership, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead the execution of strategic antitrust priorities, including those specific to industries, client teams, and individual partners, as well as regularly track and report on progress.
  • Coordinate business development efforts across the firm’s U.S., UK and Brussels antitrust practices to ensure alignment, optimize cross-border opportunities, and present a unified go-to-market strategy.
  • Work with business development leadership to execute individual lawyer, departmental, and firm business development and marketing objectives.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful working relationships with partners and other members of the antitrust practice group to build support for key business development initiatives.
  • Optimize strategic cross-selling opportunities in coordination with business development colleagues throughout the firm, leveraging the breadth of the firm’s litigation and advisory capabilities.
  • Monitor, track, and report on partner client development activities, market trends, and competitive developments affecting the antitrust and competition law landscape, including DOJ and FTC enforcement priorities.
  • Work closely with the group’s dedicated business intelligence team to monitor marketplace and competitive developments that impact existing and prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with other team members to meet rolling legal directory and league table submission deadlines and effectively leverage firm processes to more efficiently mine data and improve matter management and overall data collection.
  • Work with the firm’s event professionals and other members of the business development department to execute details of events, sponsorships, speaking engagements, and thought leadership initiatives relevant to the antitrust space.
  • Prepare pitch materials, responses to RFPs, deal lists, brochures, and other client materials for the firm’s antitrust practice, including drafting original content, and collaborate on cross-practice materials as needed.
  • Maintain and update marketing content for the antitrust practice group on a regular basis, ensuring consistency across U.S. and UK platforms.
  • Collaborate with junior members of the business development team to execute legal directory and league table submissions, biography updates, matter management, and other routine projects.
  • Handle marketing and business development database updates, including practice and matter descriptions, website content, biographies, mailing lists, and CRM.
  • Leverage AI-enabled business development tools and data analytics platforms to identify market trends and client opportunities, streamline competitive intelligence and drive strategic growth initiatives across antitrust and competition matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in a successful business development or marketing role in a professional services environment.
  • Knowledge of Antitrust and competition law, including merger review, government investigations, and antitrust litigation is preferred but not required.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information and facts to provide brief yet detailed company profiles, industry overviews, biographical summaries, and analyze key matters, industry trends and competitive intelligence.
  • Resourceful, driven attitude with a desire and energy to use a “whatever it takes” approach to ensure team success.
  • Technologies / Software
  • A solid command of software applications to produce high-end, professional work product, including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with legal and competitive intelligence research platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with Foundation, Introhive, InterAction or an equivalent Contact Relationship Management (CRM) system is a plus.
Work Environment

This role requires interaction with firmwide attorneys and administrative personnel on a regular basis, as well as communicating information to various groups within the broader marketing/business development department. The successful candidate will possess outstanding proofreading and communication (oral and written) skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize in a demanding environment with meticulous attention to detail and a professional demeanor.

  • Travel may be required.
  • Ability to respond to calls-to-action outside of standard business hours.
  • Overtime work, including early mornings, after hours and weekends may be required.
  • This is a hybrid role which requires in-office attendance in accordance with the schedule set forth by the department. A hybrid schedule is an essential function of this role.
Compensation
  • $180,000.00 to $220,000.00 annually plus bonus.
