Job summary

Control Risks is seeking a Business Continuity Specialist to support a technology sector client in building a fit-for-purpose corporate continuity program from San Francisco, CA. You will execute workstreams, collaborate with BC leadership, and help demonstrate rapid value.

You will develop impact and risk assessments, craft recovery strategies, and lead exercises and trainings. The role requires 5–7 years BC experience, strong communication, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Following client lead endorsement, pilot new approaches and deliver independently in key areas.
• Conducting business impact assessments to determine core business functions, dependencies, priorities for recovery, recovery requirements, and recovery time objectives.
• Conducting risk assessments to identify threats and vulnerabilities and suggest mitigations.
• Developing and implementing strategies to minimize customer impacts and ensure timely recovery of core functions.
• Facilitating business continuity training and awareness.
• Designing and facilitating plan exercises; analyze outcomes to identify risks and gaps.
• Managing new tooling implementation for the Business Continuity function with partners.
• Serving as the primary contact for BC inquiries across the client enterprise.
• Working with data to provide meaningful reports for decision making.
• Staying current with trends in BC and disaster recovery to improve strategies.

Job description

Control Risks' Embedded Consulting team is looking for a Business Continuity Specialist to help support a technology sector client build its corporate business continuity program. The specialist will primarily be an executor of Business Continuity workstreams, collaborating closely with the client's Business Continuity leadership team to develop a fit-for-purpose program and demonstrate value quickly.

Responsibilities

• Following client lead endorsement, pilot new approaches and deliver independently in the following areas:
• Conducting business impact assessments to determine core business functions, dependencies, priorities for recovery, recovery requirements, and recovery time objective(s).
• Conducting risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities to recovery capabilities and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
• Developing and implementing viable strategies to minimize customer impacts and ensure the timely recovery of core business functions during and after a business disruption.
• Facilitating business continuity training and awareness.
• Designing and facilitating meaningful plan exercises; analyze outcomes to identify trends, weaknesses/gaps, risks, and opportunities to improve plans and strengthen resiliency.
• Manage the implementation of new tooling for the Business Continuity function, working with internal and external partners to operationalize a tool tailored to this client context.
• Act as a thought partner to the client's Business Continuity leadership team to develop a fit-for-purpose program, thinking creatively to right size resilience solutions for this client ecosystem.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for business continuity-related inquiries and support for stakeholders across the client enterprise.
• Work with large amounts of data to provide meaningful reports and support informed decision-making.
• Demonstrate understanding and expertise in emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes in business continuity and disaster recovery to continuously improve strategies and support mechanisms within the client organization.

Requirements

• 5-7 years' experience implementing and managing business continuity or resilience programs.

The base salary range for this position is $95,000 per year. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
