Corps Team on behalf of a major financial services client seeks an experienced Business Continuity Officer for a 14-month remote contract in the United States. The role focuses on developing and maintaining business continuity plans to ensure continuity of critical functions during emergencies.
The candidate will evaluate risks, test disaster recovery strategies, and drive improvements while coordinating training and awareness across departments.
Our client, a large financial services company, is seeking an experienced Business Continuity Officer for a 14 month contract assignment. This role is fully remote.
Develops and maintains business continuity plans and strategies to ensure continuity of critical functions during and following an emergency or disaster. Researches and evaluates best practices for investment organizations and business activities to control various risks; researches all investment risk management policies and procedures, limits, and guidelines. Evaluates business continuity plans to identify opportunities for strategic improvement or mitigation of business interruption. Develops technology-based tools and metrics and performs statistical data analysis to report, monitor, measure, and manage various aspects of investment risk exposures. Develops and facilitates training and awareness education of business continuity plans to departments across the organization. Develops and implements processes, tools, and techniques to evaluate and validate investments models. Implements ongoing model validation processes. Performs periodic testing of business continuity plans to ensure efficient and timely resumption of critical functions and the return to normal operations. Develops and implements a risk management framework to better manage, measure, monitor, and report aggregate global investments risk exposures. Tests and revises disaster recovery strategies to ensure effectiveness against real situations. Recommends methods to enable resolution of safety, operations, or compliance interruptions. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower-level business continuity analysts.
Educational Requirements University (Degree) Preferred Requirements 5+ Years Required; 7+ Years Preferred 2LOD governance or independent challenge experience, ideally in operational risk, enterprise risk, or 2LOD BCM oversight (not primarily 1LOD plan authorship) Demonstrated ability to review, challenge, and formally accept or reject BIA, risk assessment, playbook, and recovery script submissions from 1LOD, including documenting rationale for non-acceptance Experience tracking attestation and submission status across multiple business units, with ability to flag gaps or delays before they reach final acceptance Policy and standards background sufficient to assess 1LOD deliverables against a defined quality bar Audit and regulatory exam support experience, including evidence-pulling and remediation tracking Strong reporting and executive communication skills, with understanding that this role feeds leadership reporting rather than standing alone GRC tool familiarity from a monitoring/oversight perspective (not primarily a builder/submitter role) Financial services and regulatory literacy, particularly around how examiners evaluate program governance BCM certification (CBCP, MBCI, or CBCI) – preferred, but secondary to demonstrated 2LOD/oversight background
