American Bank Montana, a small community bank in Bozeman, is seeking a Business Banker to serve as the face of commercial banking for Montana businesses. You will combine retail banking knowledge with lending department coordination to support clients and grow relationships.

The role emphasizes cash management offerings, cross-selling, and proactive client service with a focus on community involvement and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Preferred: Some college or Associate degree.
• Montana Notary or ability to obtain in 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to current and prospective commercial banking customers including meeting with commercial customers and providing recommendations for deposit services.
• Create accurate CIF records and maintain Jack Henry file information for lenders.
• Provide loan support by processing payments, advances, loan funding and payoffs.
• Develop working relationships with lenders and customers to act as a second contact for retail customer needs.
• Provide cash management services to new and existing customers including maintenance and on-site training.
• Support lending staff in credit administration including exception items, document imaging, reports, and account maintenance.
• Identify opportunities to cross-sell deposit and cash management products to commercial customers and support the Digital Banking Manager.
• Communicate and train staff on new products, updates, or technology changes.

Job Summary: A Business Banker is a specialized cross-sectional role that is the face of commercial banking for the businesses of Montana. They have an excellent grasp on retail banking knowledge and procedures, while also facilitating communication and relationships between commercial customers and the lending department. Also understanding of banking products and commercial bank accounts sets them up to be effective in selling services such as cash management systems for businesses.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service to current and prospective commercial banking customers including the following:
  • Meet with commercial customers and provide recommendations and proposals for deposit services.
  • Create accurate and timely CIF records and maintain Jack Henry file information as needed by lenders.
  • Provide loan support by processing payments, advances, loan funding and payoffs.
  • Develop working relationships with lenders and customers to act as a second contact for all retail customer needs.
  • Provide cash management services to new and existing customers including maintenance and on-site training.
• Provide support for lending staff in all areas of credit administration including exception items, document imaging, generate and maintain reports, and account maintenance.
• Identify opportunities to cross-sell deposit and cash management products to commercial customers and work in conjunction and support the Digital Banking Manager.
• Act as a liaison between retail banking staff and lenders to communicate and train on new products, updates, or technology changes.
• Be a knowledgeable, point of contact for commercial customers when lenders are unavailable regarding retail related issues.
• Satisfactorily complete all required compliance bank training and comply with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.
• Act as a liaison between lenders and loan center staff on all consumer credit requests and become well versed in consumer lending compliance and regulations.
• Represent American Bank as an active and visual member of the community by committing to local boards and interest groups.
• Become an active participant in business development activities for the Bank.
• Satisfactorily complete all required compliance bank training and comply with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.
  
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed.
  

Education and Experience:

• Required:High school diploma, GED, or equivalent diploma
• Preferred: Some college or Associate degree;
• Montana Notary or ability to obtain in 6 months of employment

Working Conditions:

• Physical requirements include: standing for long periods when providing customer service, sitting, walking and must occasionally be able to lift and carry 30 lbs. waist high and 20 lbs. shoulder high.
• Work environment is indoors in a clean atmosphere with normal noise levels.
• Ability to work under pressure with changing priorities is required.
• Exposed to a potentially hazardous condition - robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the risk.
• Monday through Friday, 8-hour shift with one hour lunch between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM
  

Travel Requirements:

• Primary work assignment will be in the Bozeman West branch; employees should agree to go to any other location requested by management, with the understanding that such temporary re-assignment will require the use of your personal vehicle. If requested to spend the entire day at a non-primary location, American Bank will pay for time spent traveling which is inclusive from the time an employee leaves home to the time returned to home. In addition, any time that one uses their personal vehicle, in such travel, American Bank will reimburse mileage at the current designated IRS mileage reimbursement rate.

Pay Grade: 9
