Job summary

BDO is seeking a fearless, creative analytics professional to design, test, and implement innovative data solutions for our Assurance practice. You will lead a growing analytics team, manage complex workflows, and apply Power BI, Alteryx, SQL and Python to deliver value for clients.

You will collaborate across Professional Practice, Quality Control, and IT and dedicate time to advancing emerging analytics projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics required, and four (4) years or more years of accounting, finance, analytics, or model generation experience, required
  • OR in lieu of a degree, six (6) or more years of accounting, finance, analytics, or model generation experience, required
  • Master’s degree in related field, preferred
  • Data Analytics or other related experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads and develops a growing team of highly motivated analytics and automation professionals
  • Manages analytics projects and workflows with increasing levels of complexity
  • Applies working knowledge of business concepts to analytical and visualization routines in Power BI, including data models, queries, DAX formulas, and report visuals
  • Designs and develops standardized and customized data transformation and automation workflows using tools like Alteryx, Python and SQL
  • Develops and deploys data analytics techniques, tools and templates to improve audit quality, as well as enhances engagement efficiency and acceptance of emerging methods
  • Ensures data analytics dashboards are easy to use, conform to internal requirements, and provide value to engagement teams and clients
  • Collaborates with stakeholders from Professional Practice; Quality Control; National IT; National Innovation; and BDO Global teams as needed
  • Applies knowledge of financial data systems to ensure our data model is structured appropriately for repeatable, reusable analytics routines
  • Furthers BDO’s innovation efforts and personal development by devoting 15-20% of time to projects involving emerging technology, including but not limited to advanced analytics, research and development activities and other forward-looking projects and experiments
  • Monitors engagement team feedback and incorporating iterative improvements into existing audit data analytics routines
  • Develops and conducts training sessions for individual data analytics routines that are clear, engaging and hands-on with examples

Job Duties
  • Works with industry leaders to brainstorm analytic ideas, prioritize features, define scope, and iterate with continuous feedback from industry leaders and pilot teams

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education

  • Demonstrated initiative in learning, adopting, and/or applying innovative approaches and technology, preferred
License/Certifications
  • Certified Public Accountant license, preferred
  • Alteryx Designer certification and/or other analytics certifications, preferred
  • Certified Information Systems Analyst certification, preferred
Software
  • Experience with data visualization tools, required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, required
  • Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, SQL and/or Python, preferred
  • Can read, interpret, and/or have some understanding of Power Query, M language and DAX, preferred
  • Working knowledge of accounting and audit methods, preferred

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $110,000 - $142,000

Maryland Range: $110,000 - $142,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $110,000 - $142,000
