Definition

Under general supervision, operates a district van to safely transport students to and from school or throughout the city for Sunnyside Unified School District and McKinney Vento programming.

Essential Functions

Tasks

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify proper working order of the van.
• Transport students to and from school, field trips and other outings according to schedule and safety guidelines.
• Maintain discipline on the van and prepare necessary discipline reports.
• Maintain mileage and student count log; prepare accident, incident, and maintenance reports as needed.
• Write and record repair orders; clean and fuel van.
• Maintain communication and effective working relationships with parents, staff and other drivers.
• Participate in random drug testing and perform related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Work performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent driving, walking, and standing, sitting, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions and infectious diseases.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid AZ driver's license and clean driving record for five (5) years.

Requirements

Upon offer of hire, the following items included in the requirements for the Commercial Drivers License and Arizona School Bus Driver Certificate must be met:

• Pre-Employment drug test
• Pre-Employment physical
• Physical Agility Test
• Successful completion of Driver's training program

Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.

Salary and Pay

Salary Grade: C. Hourly Pay: $17.60. Hours per Day: 6. Days in Contract: 208. Additional Information: 3 Positions Available.
