Job summary
Milwaukee County Transit System is seeking Apprentices for the Coach/Bus Operator position. This is a state-approved, thirteen-month registered apprenticeship program with classroom and hands-on training from experienced mentors.
Apprentices will obtain their CDL and learn to safely operate a passenger bus while serving Milwaukee County. As an Apprentice, you will drive safely and courteously on assigned routes, provide great customer service, and meet with a mentor to ensure successful
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid Wisconsin Class D license (non-probationary) for 1 year prior.
- CDL Class B with P endorsement or valid CDL permit 14 days prior to start.
- Maximum 6 points on driving record in last 3 years.
- No major violations or OWI/DUI in last 3 years.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a transit bus following policies and laws.
- Collect fares and issue transfers professionally.
- Provide schedules and information to passengers.
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and report defects.
- Work with mentor and complete training milestones.
