Job summary

Fowler Elementary District in Phoenix seeks a Bus Monitor for the District Office to support the safe transport of special needs students. You will assist students entering and exiting the bus, supervise them during transit, and help maintain discipline and safety.

Starting immediately, this full-time role pays $15.44 per hour. You will follow district policies and state regulations, document incidents, and communicate with drivers, teachers, and parents to ensure safe, orderly transportation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of principles and practices of safe bus transportation of special needs students.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to the transportation of special needs students.
• Knowledge of District, and State policy regarding special needs students and bus transportation.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

• Document and maintain records of problems or unusual situations.

Job Description

• Successfully pass annual physical and drug/alcohol test
• Assist students as they enter and exit the bus
• Supervise students while in transit
• Escort student(s) to classroom when necessary
• Document and maintain records of problems or unusual situations
• Inform driver, teacher, transportation director and/or parents of such problems
• Assure seat belts and/or safety restraints for wheelchairs are properly in place
