Job summary

City of Pocatello is seeking a Bus Fueler to perform fueling and fluid level checks on Transit Department vehicles, inspect equipment, collect fare box cash, and assist mechanics and drivers with a variety of tasks. The role requires knowledge of fueling equipment operation and the ability to maintain logs and maintain professional relations with officials, City employees, and the public.

Work occurs in a vehicle maintenance shop and fueling station environment with typical hazards from fuels

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Class B CDL with airbrake and passenger endorsements required.
• One (1) year of experience is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Performs fueling and fluid levels checks on Department equipment and vehicles in Department fueling station and shop.
• Performs exterior and interior checks on equipment for damages and determines if equipment is ready for operation.
• Refers problems found to mechanics and assists in directing bus washers/cleaners.
• Empties fare boxes and turns in cash to administrative office; drives buses and other Department vehicles to and from shop and repair facilities.
• Maintains fueling and inspection logs; performs other duties as assigned.
