Base pay range

$13.00/hr - $15.00/hr

Summary

The Driver safely transports children to and from elementary schools and field trips. The Driver ensures that the bus is regularly maintained and safe for driving under all applicable state regulations.

Duties
  • Safely transports children by operating the vehicle according to all state regulations, practicing defensive driving at all times.
  • Follows injury management and accident protocols, reporting child injuries and hazards promptly in verbal and written form.
  • Inspects that each child is buckled before starting the vehicle; communicates safety requirements; and wears a seatbelt during vehicle operation.
  • Assists children boarding and exiting, requiring physical effort; ensures safety of all persons and obstacles before driving.
  • Operates the vehicle within license restrictions; reports any impairing medication use; and adheres to laws prohibiting drug or alcohol use while driving.
  • Maintains focus on the road, avoiding cell phone or electronic device use during driving.
  • Regularly cleans the vehicle, including sweeping and debris removal.
  • Reports suspected child abuse or neglect to authorities as required by law.
  • Attends all staff trainings and meetings in person.

Treats each child with respect and dignity, considering their unique backgrounds, including children with disabilities.

Requirements
  • Successfully passes Motor Vehicle Records check.
  • Meets state licensing requirements for driving.
  • Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: experience in a licensed childcare center.

Must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
