Qualifications

• Must possess a current MS driver’s license and CDL Class B with a school bus endorsement.
• Must meet physical, hearing, and vision requirements as outlined by the Mississippi Department of Education.
• Be able to pass a background check.
• Successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing.
• High School diploma or its equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Transport students to and from school, field trips, sports events and other off‑campus activities.
• Follow a planned route and schedule, obey traffic laws and regulations.
• Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.
• Ensure the safety of all students while on the bus.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting, including those with disabilities.
• Verify permissions for students riding home with others.
• Perform pre/post route bus inspections and report mechanical issues.
• Maintain professional conduct and attend safety trainings.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Safe Transportation
• • Transport students to and from school, field trips, sporting events, and other off-campus activities.
  • Follow a planned route and schedule, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.
  • Ensure the safety of all students while on the bus.
• Student Management
• • Assist students with getting on and off the bus, including those with disabilities.
  • Verify permissions for students riding home with friends.
  • Maintain discipline and a safe environment on the bus.
• Vehicle Maintenance
• • Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.
  • Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
• Professional Conduct
• • Obey all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Attend safety meetings and training as required.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and interact positively with students and parents

This job involves sitting for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and climbing. Able to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to travel, enter, and exit a vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. Random drug tests may be performed.

• Successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment required
• High School diploma or its equivalent required
