Job summary

Independence Local Schools is seeking a Bus Driver for the PM route at Independence Bus Garage in Independence, Ohio. The initial assignment is transportation, with anticipated hours of 2 hours per day (approximately 2:00PM-4:00 PM) and a shift from Monday through Friday in the afternoons.

The position offers an hourly rate of $20.16hr - $27.47/hr depending on experience. CDL preferred but training is available; HS diploma/GED and insurability required, with strong teamwork and communication

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be insurable.
• State of Ohio CDL with School Bus Endorsement.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Superintendent and/or Board may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Transport students on the PM route as assigned.
• Follow safety procedures and traffic laws for school transportation.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as needed.

• State Department of Education Basic School Bus Driver Education Program
• Basic first-aid procedures
• Knowledge of relevant Ohio laws and regulations

• Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels
• Ability to handle emergency situations
• Ability to interpret gauges, dipsticks for oil and transmission
