Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County is seeking a Bus Driver to operate vans and buses, transporting children from school to the Clubs and on field trips. This role emphasizes safety, adherence to schedules, and daily vehicle inspection.

The driver reports to the Transportation Manager and ensures compliance with traffic regulations and club procedures while keeping students safe and accountable.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Class B or higher.

Responsibilities

• Transporting students from schools to designated clubs.
• Transporting students on designated field trips.
• Follow a pre-planned route according to a definite time schedule.
• Drive the bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations and bus operating procedures.
• Assume responsibility for the safety of children in loading, unloading, and transporting them from school to club.
• Instruct children on safety precautions and practices.
• Maintains proper paperwork for attendance of children.
• Maintains discipline; reports of unruly behavior to Club Director.
• Inspects and sweeps bus on a daily basis.
• Reports delays and accidents.
• Reports defects or problems with vehicles to the Transportation Manager and maintenance.
• Assures bus meets regular maintenance schedule.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager.

Primary Function:

Under the direct supervision of the Transportation Manager, the Bus Driver is responsible for the operation of vans and small and large buses, in transporting children from school to the Clubs, and driving on designated field trips.
