Job summary

Transdev in Merced, CA is seeking a Part-Time Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation and excellent customer service. You will operate routes, adhere to schedules, and perform pre-trip inspections while maintaining a clean vehicle and professional demeanor.

Typical schedules are about 30 hours per week with weekday and weekend shifts. Must be 21+, hold a CDL with Passenger endorsements, and pass DOT testing.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid CDL with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements, or CDL permit with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements.
• Minimum 3 years driving experience.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules.
• DOT drug testing and physical per regulations.

Responsibilities

• Safety-focused operations following designated routes and schedules, with adherence to safety protocols and traffic regulations.
• Passenger care: assist passengers, ensure smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation.
• Vehicle inspections: pre-trip and post-trip checks, report maintenance issues, maintain cleanliness and safety equipment readiness.
• Adherence to protocols: follow company policies, seat belt enforcement, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance.
• Other duties as required.

Bus Driver - Part-Time

We are currently on the lookout for Bus Drivers to join our elite team in Merced, CA. As a key member, you will be entrusted with ensuring safe and comfortable transportation for our passengers, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.

Position Subject to Collective Bargaining Agreement:

• $22.34-$34.20 (Union Collective Bargaining Agreement Payscale)

• Starting pay $22.34 with progression to $34.20 over 5 years. Paid Sick Leave (California requirements apply).

Training Schedule:

• Weekdays and weekends, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Typical part-time schedules include:

• Shifts are approximately 30 hours per week .
• Weekdays: Between 4:30 AM and 10:00 PM
• Weekends: Between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM
• Schedules vary based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety-Focused Operations: Execute flawless operations by meticulously following designated routes and schedules, while adhering to stringent safety protocols and traffic regulations.

• Vehicle Vigilance: Champion vehicle safety through comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections,
• promptly reporting any maintenance issues and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety equipment readiness.
• Adherence to Protocols: Uphold company policies and procedures rigorously, encompassing seat belt enforcement, emergency response preparedness, and compliance with regulatory mandates.

Qualifications:

• 21 years or older
• Valid Class A or Class B CDL with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements, or a valid CDL permit with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements.
• Minimum 3 years of driving experience (personal or professional)
• Excellent communication & customer service skills.
• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
• Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 200+ pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
