- Coordinate and conduct maintenance of vehicles, including seasonal start-up inspections, routine maintenance, and final inspections.
- Perform daily walk-around inspections and report issues to the Center Manager; replenish supplies as needed.
- Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies, ensure safety data sheets are accessible, and handle chemicals according to safety protocols.
- Keep a current list of transported children, ensuring attendance and security.
- Participate in child safety checks before and after routes, ensuring children's safety and reporting concerns.
- Serve as a liaison between families and staff, reporting family concerns.
- Complete paperwork related to vehicle expenditures and maintenance.
- Conduct monthly bus evacuation drills, document, and report results.
- Maintain cleanliness of the center and outdoor grounds, including lawn care and snow removal when necessary.
- Inspect playgrounds daily for hazards and document inspections.
- Transport and supervise children during various activities and events.
- Participate in training for serving children with disabilities and special needs.
- Assist with recruitment activities, including recruiting children with disabilities.
- Provide support or technical assistance to other locations as needed.
- Develop bus routes in coordination with Family Services and Center Manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Be at least 21 years old with a valid CDL, including passenger and school bus endorsements.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Insurable according to Department of Transportation standards.
- Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and adequate insurance.
- Experience in transporting young children preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This role requires occasional physical activity such as pushing, bending, reaching, and standing for long periods. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for individuals with disabilities.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.; assistance needed for heavier loads.
- Exposure to moderate temperatures and noise levels.
Tools & Equipment Used:
- Phones, computers, fax, copy machines, calculators, first aid and fire safety equipment, child restraints, hand and yard tools, floor buffers, and buses of various capacities.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Successful background check, DOT physical and medical card, drug and TB testing, and completion of safety training are required prior to employment.
