Job summary

Fort Worth ISD Transportation is seeking a Driver in Training at Transportation Central. You will be trained to obtain a Texas CDL with (P) passenger and (S) school bus endorsements and prepared for behind-the-wheel school bus duties.

This part-time hourly role lasts up to 90 days; upon successful completion you will transition to a School Bus Driver position with responsibilities including safety checks, student supervision, and compliance with district policies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Accredited High School diploma, GED, or Texas Certificate of High School Equivalency preferred.
  • Certification/License: Clear and valid Texas CDL Class B with (P) passenger and (S) school bus endorsement or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Experience: Acceptable driving record; insurability requirements.
  • Additional Requirements: Pass annual physical; complete 20-hour training and ongoing 8-hour course.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all trainings and safety meetings.
  • Prepare for written exams and road tests.
  • Learn bus inspections and safe operation.
  • Learn student management and district policies.
  • Maintain bus cleanliness and fuel/maintenance routines.
  • Rides along to learn routes and procedures.
