Job summary

City of Evanston is seeking a part-time Bus Driver to transport participants of city programs. You will operate a bus/van on designated routes, maintain logs, and ensure passenger safety and comfort throughout trips.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, fueling, minor cleaning, assisting with loading/unloading, and coordinating with program staff to secure seatbelts before departure. A Class B CDL with passenger and air brake endorsements is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsements.
• Requires one (1) or more years of professional driving experience.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; establish and maintain working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Drive the bus or van to transport participants on designated routes.
• Follow traffic laws and ensure passenger safety; adhere to speed limits and road signs.
• Accurately complete vehicle logs for each trip and submit logs as required.
• Perform minor cleaning of the vehicle and keep it in a ready state for the next trip.
• Park, secure, and lock the vehicle after trips; conduct pre/post trip safety checks.
